Guys, this is only speculation but I'm interested in people's opinions.

How much do you think the transfer fund will be this summer? With any player sales that might fluctuate but currently what do you all think? I'm curious as I know we spent big in January, not sure if that will affect it? My guess is 30-40 but will be done over a couple of players rather than 1 player. Can see us going into the loan market more.

Cheers

Not sure who would leave that we can get a fee for?

Mandanda 5m tops
Cabaye outside chance 7/8m
Scott Dann outside chance 5m
CYL 2-4m
Sako 2-4m

That's at best about 20m

I'd say maybe +20m from cash reserves, so 30-40m doesn't sound unrealistic.
We did spend heavily in January and have a new contract for Wilf to pay.

It would be mad to sell Cabaye for that given his performances under Allardyce. As an experienced head he has a lot to offer still, and of course his calming influence and composure on the ball.

Whoever comes in will have their own ideas. I'd rather keep him, but is one of the few saleable assets we have currently.

5m! I know his form has dropped off, but if Tomkins is worth 10m, then I would want at least similar, probably more with the inflated transfer market prices. Would be mad to sell him anyway. Last season showed that we need all the defensive cover we can get and if he gets his form back is a quality CB.

I realise that was a joke, and so is this - two bob (plus a shiny tin pot if he goes to the weeds).

Sensible answer 40m. Out of contract/free transfers are never that. The player and agent trouser considerable wedge in signing-on fees and wages due to the absence of transfer fees - they always have both eyes to the main chance, so such signings needed to be costed in.

The point being under a decent manager you'll get good performances out of him.

We only payed 1.5m for Mandanda and he's barely featured all year, so not sure about making 3.5m profit.

Mandanda was bought for less than his market value because Marseille had to raise funds and he was at the end of his contract.

That is not the case at Palace where he has years left on his contract and Palace can demand a market value transfer fee if they wish to sell him.

Transfer are usually spread out over years, so it depends how much we owe in payments this year. Last season we spent about at least 85m on players and got about 40m back. That is still a 45m negative.

I must admit I laughed when I saw 5M "outside chance". Good job the poster isn't in charge of player valuations
