View Full Version : Advice needed for a trip to Porto/Boavista

I am heading to Porto for a city break over the August bank holiday weekend and i should be getting the chance to fit in a game what with one of either Boavista or FC Porto hopefully playing. Not sure who yet though as their fixtures still seem to be unreleased.

Ive been doing a bit of exploring online for some fan friendly guides through the eyes of a ground hopping beer loving (very important!) expert or two but sadly i haven't come across too much information. No trips blogged about by euro football weekends as far as i can see.

Are there any Portuguese football experts on here who know a thing or two about football in the city and could lend me some advice? i.e. Where to drink before games, are the fans friendly enough (I went to see Legia Warsaw play, very different culture i know, but needless to say they treat football tourists with a fair bit of caution which made for an edgy experience for the guys with me who weren't used to football), do you need I.D. for tickets, can you drink in the grounds etc and then obviously any other tips for around the city itself i.e. where can we stuff our faces with some of the best grub going and then have a good night drinking with the locals ;)

Any help someone could offer me would be most appreciated.

Sa˙de! :p
