If Dann was to go, and we got Sakho, he'd be great cover if he was happy to be that.

Edit - Maybe just a nudge to Liverpool?

Only started four games for Roma last season. Too risky with his injury record.

Just 20 apps in 3 years but a good left footed centre back.

Would have to take a pay cut, currently on about 125k

I suggested Thomas Vermaelen a few weeks ago as an alternative to Sakho should Liverpool persist with their asking fee. Depending on his fitness as i am not sure how he got on whilst on loan in Italy, he would make an excellent Left sided CB which is what we need to complement the team, again the one draw back apart from fitness will be wages.
I really hope this goes ahead as we would have a quality replacement for Sakho, but also save us a potful of money to strengthen elsewhere.

Think he only played handful of games for Roma..

He has played 20 times since 2014..

No thank you unless it's on a pay as you play type deal

As for playing just 20 games since 2014 it is concerning, but it was at Barcelona with some pretty good players blocking his way of a First team place, also i believe he was signed as cover.
As i said apart from fitness, wages will be a problem unless he is willing to do a Rooney and takes a wage cut:) maybe the fitness compromise could be get him and club to agree to spend preseason with Palace to prove his fitness and then sign.
If he can tick all those boxes he would be a fabulous signing and one that we would be fortunate to nab, especially as i heard that Barca are willing to sell for 5m, would be a steal.

I'm pretty sure the main reason for only playing 20 times was due to injuries.

He has undoubted ability.. and for 5m it's certainly worth looking at but he's 31.. injury prone.. and on huge wages. Too much of a risk imo

Rather have Munir if anyone

If you was Vermaelen you'd chase Messi round in training all morning wouldn't you.

Yes, he'd be a risk, but a risk worth taking in my opinion. If he's available and willing to come to us, it's not too often we'd have the opportunity to sign a player that is proven at the highest level.

I would see this as a Hangeland like signing. Quality player with experience. Great back up and player to have in the squad but don't expect him to play every week.

As others have said depends what sort of deal we can agree in terms of salary/appearance fee etc.

I would be happy with this.

It'll be Sakho.
Would think all the shenanigans about other CB's is all to do with sending a message to Liverpool that we do have other options if they don't budge from the 30 million valuation. No one is going to pay that money for someone with so little game time in the past 12 months and in his last game was stretchered off with a serious knee injury.

I don't really keep up with European football but if Barca are looking to move him on would he be playing against Man U?

And if we are tying to poach him would either Barca or the lad himself give is the time of day?

TP's ideal is to play with a 9ft long kicking goalkeeper 4 centrebacks in the back four, 3 centrebacks in midfield, a mobile centreback up front, and two fullbacks on the wings.

Pretty much managed it at Stoke
