SWANSEA centre-back Kyle Bartley has been targeted by Crystal Palace and Stoke.

The 26-year-old, who has one year left on his contract at the Liberty Stadium, is also wanted by Garry Monk at Middlesbrough but has Premier League interest.

Former Arsenal defender Kyle Bartley is a wanted man
Stoke boss Mark Hughes is also looking to bolster his defence with Kyle Bartley

Stoke boss Mark Hughes is also looking to bolster his defence with Kyle Bartley
Monk coached the ex-Arsenal defender at Leeds last season and wants him at the Riverside after his impressive season in the Championship.

His form has also led to Palace looking at putting together a deal as they prepare to replace Mamadou Sakho, who was on loan from Liverpool last season but too expensive to sign permanently.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes is also looking to bolster his back line and is hoping Bartley will add to competition at the Bet365 Stadium.

His contract situation at Swansea means he could go in a cut-price deal rather than losing him for free in a year.

Bournemouth attempted to sign the ex-Arsenal man in the January transfer window but moved for Nathan Ake as their centre-back signing of the summer.

Leeds were also interested in taking him again after his spell at Elland Road but are behind Premier League clubs in the race to land him before the start of the season.

I don't remember ever seeing him play. I know a Leeds fan who was banging on about him when i saw him in February. According to wiki last season was the first season he played regularly, and he is 26.

Good solid player in the Championship last season, would be good cover for Dann and Tomkins, and could grow into being a starter.

Is he left footed, and is he a natural leader?

If so, maybe interested.

I'm not saying that this guy is our backup option to Sakho, but........

Maybe he'll be amazing.

I just want Sakho :sob:

Indeed , Swansea season ticket says he isn't crap but just not that good , slow and prone to errors

I get people may be disappointed but how many of your favourite players were rejects of other clubs that we polished up? Armstrong, Bright, AJ, etc...

Doesn't have to be. We have a much greater need for players better than Hennessey, better than Puncheon and better than Wickham.

As I mis-posted elsewhere, I hadn't realised he had been doing quite so well at Leeds.

I'd be delighted with this but there's no reliable evidence we're even interested

We pinched Armstrong from Millwall before he had a chance to settle in, he was already quickly building a reputation. He was nobody's reject.
