The club has recently been advised of the passing of Mike Deakin aged 83.

Mike was a centre-forward who joined the club from Bromsgrove Rovers in November 1954 and made just over 150 first team appearances and scoring 62goals until his last game in August 1959.

This was a difficult time for the club as we became a founder member of Division Four but Mike then found himself playing alongside Johnny Byrne as
the upturn in the club's fortunes began. Mike then played for Northampton Town and Aldershot.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.

RIP, and condolences to his family.
Scored the first Palace goal I can remember, a header at the Whitehorse Lane end. I remember him as a good player, the main goal scorer of his time and my first Palace hero.
