Assuming its just a fan from another team putting 2 and 2 together and making 523, but a Man City fan who claims to have inside knowledge of this one, says Krul is coming to us.

He's currently very much available.

Using the Monk Rumour prefix when you are not Monk should be a ban-worthy offense.

Used it as a pisstake as am not sure it's worthy of the word "rumour".

I have been a fan of Tim Krul and have suggested him before, but having read that report and what looks like a loss of form over the past 2 years coupled with a dodgy record at AZ last season, the gamble would be too great for Palace to take.

RisZero

As for the actual rumour, like Smith says im assuming its just putting 2 and 2 together. We need a keeper, our new manager is Dutch and is getting linked to every Dutchman under the sun, Krul is a dutch keeper. Dont expect this is happening given how far he seems to have fallen.

Not sure he is a good option. Frying pan comes to mind.

From his last appearances for Newcastle it looked like he was passed his best.
The reports from Holland following this do not bode well.

As a backup keeper i'd take him, but he's mot much better than Hennessey, probably not as good as Adrian

A number of goalkeepers have downturns in their form at some stage in their careers. Paul Robinson, Scott Carson, Ben Foster and David James all come to mind. I guess the question with Krul is whether he can rebuild his career in the cauldron of the Premier League. I suspect he might need to drop down a division.

Starting to get nervous that it's another year of Wayne in goal. Everyone we're supposedly linked with has rejected us. Surely, SOMEONE out there who is better than Wayne can be brought in?

The problem Wayne has had for a couple of seasons now has been the lack of decent competition. It can't possibly help performance.

I think at least for myself, I'm being fair. I'm happy enough to have Wayne on the squad, but starting matches? No, that can't be a real opinion anymore. He can start in a pinch, sure. We've seen enough to know that if the goal is to crack the top 10, and I think that should be our objective, then Wayne can't be your keeper. He can make brilliant saves and keep us in matches of course, but too many soft goals, so much flapping, and just random moments of folly.

TBH I thought WH played quite well at Metz. Good reaction for that header that I thought was a certain goal. Took and held the crosses that he had to deal with. Even looked more comfortable with the ball at his feet. The goal he conceded was a special strike. If he had been a new keeper with a long, unpronounceable name the responses would be positive. The problem is that we are all scarred by some horror shows.

Tim Krul would be worse I reckon.

Hello darkness my old friend

The 'sound of silence' from the club is deafening when it comes to transfer news. Anyway, I think Tim Krul might be a shrewd buy. He was pretty good a few years ago ans several clubs were after him. Maybe it's a coaching issue, but at 29 he's got to be in the bargain basement frame, and that's where we are at the moment + he's Dutch.

If Frank's been reading the BBS he will possibly have booked a flight back to the Netherlands by now, or failing that will have gone to buy some trousers that aren't white chinos.

As for Krul- I really hope we can do better.

People wouldn't object so much to those criteria if they were the other way around.

The trouble is that you really do get the impression that "Dutch" is almost an essential prerequisite, and experience (or even evidence of current ability) is almost treated as a nice little bonus
