View Full Version : Rumour: James Collins

BBC gossip saying The Sun have us, Everton and Swansea chasing James Collins from WHU. Can't believe it personally given his age vs our current CBs and the other players we are linked with.

Swansea or a new contract at West Ham

If you look at the types of players we appear to have been seriously linked with, Collins doesn't obviously fit.

Agree with the above. And also, why on earth would Everton want him?

RisZero

We were linked in a recent window, likely we have just been thrown into the pot again off the back of that. Assuming we have no interest now.

I suppose if he's moving, his agent needs to mention another few teams as completion. Probably just pulls them out of a hat.

Everton, lol.

As others have said, if the article lists a number of clubs, the source is likely the agent. If the article lists the transfer plans of a club, the source (assuming it exists) is likely from a club.

No chance this happens given what FDB is looking for.

Sounds like complete bollocks. Why would Everton or us want him now we have so much better options. Swansea maybe

Brighton/Huddersfield now, surely?

These rumours are getting very silly, the next we will hear is FdB intends to pair Collins with Delaney and for added protection will be bringing Japp Stam out of retirement in a Back Three to frighten the premiership.

A Tom Collins would be preferential.

Very much doubt if FdB has ever heard of James Collins...

He's a good solid CB but not a FDB sort you'd imagine. He's no better than Dann too.

He is not even close to Danny in ability. He makes mistakes and gets caught out of position. He is a no nonsense defender who can stop others playing football, and will put his body on the line, and that's it. As you say not FDB sort.

And he's not suitable for a possession game

Basically another Delaney.

I'm a big Dann fan to be honest. Hope he recaptures form. He was also described as a footballing CB at the time of his form by our fans. If he was Fonte he still would be, but people like to label Brits.

Collins is your typical British (Welsh) non footballing CB. Sam speaks highly of him in his book and I do think he is underrated. I have not seen the mistakes you talk about. I think he's Terry esque to be honest as I never really thought Terry was more than a solid CB who needs a deep line to play in.

But Dann is those solid things and more technical/agile etc.

You've made the same error that you're moaning about. Terry was good with the ball, his technical skills were always underrated (look up his passing stats).

Guys a twat though.

Mental. Terry was a brilliant passer of the ball.

Yep John terry was a very good player, tough tackling, good in possession and great positional awareness. His one weakness was pace but, at his peak, he didn't need pace.

Defo a twat mind!

I'm willing to bet Joey Barton is the bigger twat of the two of them, if you actually got to know them.

I'd bet my life it's the other way round. Barton is a dopey deluded prat, but Terry is actual vermin.

Anyone know if James Collins is nice?

When smoked for 16 hours and served with potato salad and pickles he might be, but at 33 he might have a lot of gristle. ;)

I always thought terry had poor positioning, which was why he always had to commit to those last ditch challenges. He was good on the ball mind

Not based on what I saw. 5 yard sideways passes don't impress me.

Never going to happen under FdB, now if Allardyce was still in charge then for sure i could see it happening. But surely NOT now?

Incorrect again I'm afraid.

You can look up average pass distance.

He has not 1 attribute that FdB would associate as being his type of player. Ridiculous rumour.

Just imagine our only back ups to our 3 CBs being Delaney, Collins and Kelly. Might aswell give up before we even start.

Don't want him but he'd be a big upgrade on Delaney. Nonsense though, no chance he's a FDB player
