I really don't know why it winds me up when I hear another club's fans sing a variant of GAO, but it really does get my goat.

We've had Man City & Hull shoe-horning respective managers names in last season, but twice in the last 24 hours, I've now heard the might of Colchester & Bury adapt the song for one of their plankton, bottom dwelling players.

I know it gets a blast over the Tannoy at various grounds when a goal goes in, but terrace chant-wise, it's obviously now a fashion and I wish it would end.

I am with you. WBA were singing it about Pulis a few months back though it didn't last long. It's caught on now though and I'm sure others will be doing it

At least these recent versions are just a fad. Blackpool and Yeovil really get on my tits, trying to claim they've had it for decades.

John Henty was playing it from his shed on top of the Park Road grass banking 50+ years ago, so in my view everyone else should bog off from using it.

Everton must be feeling the same about Watford using the Z-Cars theme.

And Spurs nicking Southampton's anthem and then turning it into a dirge.

The Dave Clarke Five are/were Spurs (and GAO is a ruddy awful song).

The fact that people are stealing it reflects success in my opinion.

I couldn't see anyone noticing it as much if Palace were stuck in the doldrums of the championship playing the likes of Blackpool and Accrington Stanley etc etc

Anyways how many songs have our ultras stolen over the last few yars?

.....and if I was the composer of "I will follow him" from Nuns on the Run2/Sister Act2 I would be livid right now.

If we do can we steal 'The liquidator' off Chelsea (or WBA, apparently) ?

It's spreading. I was watching the Rugby League Challenge Cup semi final and they played it when a try was scored.

We did drop it for about ten years or so, in the 70s / 80s.

Yes, must have been.It was clearly the correct decision then.

Look at the state of Dave Clark's face - it's worse than Stuart Broad's:

I will make an exception for this evening and say I'll be OK with hearing the Man City 'Guardiola' version ringing out around the Andrex after the 6th goal goes in...
