300k and free up of some wages. Think this would be a good idea to be honest.

So Ipswich will pay 300k for a player they released 5 years ago and has been a legend for us for most of that time.

Paul Jewell has to have been one of the most clueless managers around in recent years.

Great deal for all involved if it comes off. No longer good enough to feature regularly at this level, and deserves to be playing first team football at this stage of his career. Would go with our best wishes, clear some space on the wage bill, and bring in a small fee to boot. Excellent work on the club's (Dougie's?) part if true.

That's what I think, because I'm sure he said this in an interview a few years ago.

I doubt he'd fancy slogging away down the leagues again, whereas a year or two in the States would be a fresh and interesting experience for him.

Mate I'm not being funny but really? you know we played Ipswich tonight right? He was at the game, walking back with all the Ipswich fans, on the train with them, singing their songs. Another Ipswich fan I spoke to on the train knew him. I don't think any Millwall fan is that bothered to spend money on Ipswich merchandise, go to the game and make up a rumour that really no one is that fussed about?

If anyone was at Norwood Junction tonight: he was the Johnny Vegas look a like with the cone on his head!

Im going to use this thread to appreciate what Delaney achieved here, when you think about his age when he joined us and his circumstances at the time, what he achieved was amazing. Although on the decline now he made the CB position his own in the prem for 3 years when realistically i dont think there was one person who expected it. Modern day ledge for Palace.

Even if it isn't Ipswich, surely if he's available some club would take him for 300k? That's a bargain for a year and he would certainly do a job at championship for another season.

He's not going to get a game here. I think that was evident from last nights lineup. Perhaps if Kelly goes he may well get a run out in the cups if he does stay.

He's more than earned his respect here. There's no doubt that he was ever a proper Premier League centre back but he's a grafter. I don't think anyone can say that he's never given 100% even if at times his ability may have not quite been there.
That first season in the Premier League he looked more than capable and gave us some fine performances in the Premier League - Chelsea marking Diego Costa out of the game being one of those.

If true you should absolutely take it. 300k profit on a 36 year old who won't play at all this season and didn't even get a look in on the bench last night? Money is supposedly tight now too. He's been a hero but got to stop being sentimental. Just like Speroni should be a coach now too

This made me laugh! I wouldn't have started a thread on this if it wasn't just a bit likely though. We all know Delaney is done at this level, especially under de Boer where he's 8th choice at best. There is a previous link to Ipswich and they're seriously short of centre backs. It's also a cheap deal for them but gets him off our wage bill nicely.

The traffic cone however... he then threw it into the tracks at Norwood Junction [emoji23]

20-30m for sakho (the 30m has been hugely reported as was 20 in Jan), 13-18m for Burke is being quoted, 7-9m for Riedewald was widely reported before it was announced, Benteke's fee last year, Cabaye's before that... Townsend last year... sometimes they're made up of add ons, sometime's they're paid in segments. Sometime's they're a bit off, but usually they're very close. The fees we paid in Jan had been reported a lot before the deals happened in papers, and were more or less confirmed on the signing. As I said, we don't know all the exact details of every deal, but some stories come from inside info and these prices are leaked.

Is that any more tenuous than most the links on here? In fact it's probably got more substance to this than the Nugent rumour and that rumbled on for years!

You're saying it like it has stopped rumbling.

None of this has been reported in the Croydon Advertiser, are you sure about all this?

That's true. It's all bullshit until they click bait it. 'Ipswich Town in shock bid for Crystal Palace ace'

Very disrespectful :( and your normally one of the better posters on here.

Why???
I've loved what he's done for our club. Couldn't be prouder of the bloke, but he's finished with us. 300k is ridiculous to pay for a 36 yo that can't run with any pace, can't jump with any great height and seriously can't pass the ball.
Respect is still there, but it's a business and he can longer fill his end of the deal. I can be as sentimental as the next bloke but not at present. We need wages trimmed to bring in someone fresh. DD is not going to play so what's the point in keeping him??
Not sure how I've disrespected him but each to their own.:p

I'd be very surprised if we were holding out for a fee for him, he's earned a free transfer if the right offer came in for him, surely?

Your basically saying he's completely finished when maybe at premiership level yes but not below as his experience will come into it .

People saying he's finished? Honestly if he'd been playing v Huddersfield I am sure we would not have conceded the 2nd and possibly not the 1st. He's a better passer of the ball than people give him credit for. Having said that he deserves a move and to be playing regularly. He is a legend

I'd rather we sold Benteke and didn't get Sakho than sell Delaney

bell end rather than leg end.
Seriously though, it would make sense all round. He has done really well for the club but time to move on.

if Sakho comes in I think he will go for no fee, and pocket a decent signing on fee.

Delaney is a great pro and deserves a big final payday.
