Spurs just signed Gazzaniga from Southampton. Dutch keeper Vorm is very good :)

No need to. Didn't you know? All of the Dutch players all live together in a very tall wooden house with sails and you often see them going clip-clippety-clop on the stair.

The youth team are very defensive all having their fingers in the wall outside.

Would be surprised. Gazzaniga is meant to be 3rd choice. It was going to be Pau Lopez from Espanyol who was on loan last season but his contract ends next season and Spurs/Espanyol disagree on the value (shock...). The theory is that Gazzaniga comes in now, Vorm leaves next season when his contract is up - signed an extension last season - and Lopez comes back for free.

The other theory is that Vorm is going to retire and become a coach, but people think Lopez will still come in. Espanyol wanted 2.5m and Spurs offered 500k - which shouldn't surprise anyone who knows how Spurs like to negotiate. If that's what you can call it. Other clubs have called the tactics insulting and derisory, and sometimes it's difficult to disagree.

Lopez has been linked to Real Betis and already stated he is very keen on that move. Stupid move for him last season effectively sat out a season when he should have been playing.

No I think Sky have done what I did and are putting 2 and 2 together...

I think this would be a top signing personally, despite the age.

Really? Has always looked error prone and unimpressive when he's had a chance at Spurs.

Though I realise we have a pretty low threshold on what an improvement would look like.

It was a strange move. Especially as they didn't sign him in the end - it was presumed last season was like in Italy where players go on loan and the permanent move is already agreed but didn't happen.

Spurs had ex-Cardiff GK Luke O'Reilly on trial recently, played in one of the u23 games. No deal has been announced. Spurs also sold Luke McGee to Portsmouth this summer.

If Lopez is going to Betis, then at least he'd play. Would be better for Espanyol to get a fee.

Would still be surprised if Vorm goes - but that would make Gazzaniga 2nd and no third. Unless O'Reilly signs. Like I said, I figured Lopez would come in... but he hasn't.

He's not very good. Poor in dealing with aerial threat and mistake prone. Decent shot stopper and better with the ball at his feet than Hen.

We desperately need a keeper who can command his box and deal with aerial pressure.

Sky reckon we want Vorm because he's good with his feet. Hennessey is good with his feet, he just can't catch or save simple stuff.

24-08-2017, 12:52 PM
Sky sources are repeatedly wrong. He's Dutch, Spurs have just signed a keeper, and we need one. Wouldn't be at all surprised if they're just making it up to steer traffic onto their Twitter account.

Until Fifield reports it, I wouldn't believe a word of what Sky says.

Hennessey's feet are his biggest problem, not in the sense of being able to pass a football, but in the sense that he seems to struggle to set himself so that he can move with any kind of dexterity or speed toward saving shots.

Also the amount of simple simple balls he spills is ridiculous, most of them go unpunished because of how little pressure he is under, but I've never seen a goalkeeper fumble pea rollers before.

Tottenham sign another keeper...
Palace looking for a keeper...
Vorm maybe available & he's Dutch...
de Boer is Palace Manager & also Dutch...

= Crystal Palace are interested in Vorm. Sounds like a nothing story to me.

Maybe a bogof with Wimmer and Vorm. And a good chance for the club shop to clear their stock of less popular consonants.

That's true. I agree with all of this. I was talking in the sense of he can pass and everything you've said is his issue.

There's a reason why Spurs are prepared to let him leave.

The idea is for him to replace Dani Gimenez on the bench next season then push Antonio Adan for the number 1 spot.

From a Spurs forum:

"He was very good last season, I don't think i'd sell him even for 10m+".

"Do not sell Vorm. I'm starting to feel we may see more and more of him this season"

Seem to rate him.

which forum? some have joked that Lloris 'keeps throwing the ball in his own net' but it is definitely a joke. He throws it to players who miscontrol and then lets shots under him instead. Oh well.

Ppl have short memories. Vorm was an excellent keeper at Swansea, that's why Spurs bought him as first back up to the world class Lloris. He hasn't had much of a look in due to being second fiddle but he's still way better than our current options imo

Yup. I don't mind WH but Vorm is a far better keeper. Get him for a reasonable fee and it will be a good signing.

Is a good solution for a year or two until we can spend more on a proven keeper. We need the money in other positions and regardless of what people think of WH it isn't easy to find someone who will be head and shoulders better than him for a smallish fee.
Vorm is a good solution for us

If cash is as tight as suggested then a short term fix is probably in order while we look for the next Pickford. (who was annoyingly good again last night although we would have skated Wayne for conceding their goal).
