Cairns looks the part to me albeit on one video clip. He has a lot to do to get near Martyn's quality, but has time on his side. Butland and Pickford have stepped up and with our goalkeeping coach he could do the same. I'm ahead of myself, let's sign him first.

Would rather Skorupski as we could drop wh straight away. In terms of shot stopping etc looks similar but obviously less experienced at top level. But if he does a Pickford then we'll have a potential long term Jules replacement.

bigend1
31-08-2017, 07:09 PM
He's 24 so not a kid but not old for a keeper either.

https://youtu.be/iPyaoQRLFZM

That's last season highlights for him.

You can only save the shots you face and as that goes on he really does show good shot stopping and strong hands. Nothing to show if he's good at commanding area etc

Interesting one

It would be good if we could get someone from the lower leagues and become successful for us. It would also save us a lot of money compared to signing someone already established. There are many good lower league players the main problem is they are not always consistent enough. If they can get the consistency then there is no reason why they can't be successful in the Premier League or Championship.

Cairns played about half the games for Fleetwood last season including the play offs when they did better than anyone's expectations. The previous season they survived relegation on the final day.

Exactly mate and i also think many can make the step up, sadly in today's game everyone wants instant success. Way before your time but you should've seen SSC build the club in his first spell at club the mid/late 80's especially were special times as you could see/sense it coming all together .
