Another home draw would be great. Win that and suddenly we're in a quarter final, which will come as a nice distraction considering our dreadful form in the league. It'll be city away though.

This annoys me about the UK and I don't even live there. As travelling football fans it must be beyond a joke now. How has a situation been allowed to develop where it now cost an arm and a leg to travel anywhere by train. That's Rip Off Britain right there.

I remember all the Bristol City muppets around that time. Alittle bit of naughty in the Arthur, and many a twonk coming on here (not dissimilar to the QPR muppets) when they all thought they had hit the big time forever.

Some BBSers may take a pop at our fans every now and then, but we're not like those lot. I wonder if we do possess one or two twonks who go on opposition message boards giving it large. If we do, they must be youngsters, because anyone who has followed Palace long enough wouldn't tempt fate in such a way.

The Palace team that night included Neil Alexander, Florian Marange, Elliot Grandin, Stephen Dobbie and Owen Garvan and a number of youth team players

A lot of bull shit at Ashton gate over the years.

Under Warnock in 08 they got awarded a penalty which was saved, retaken for encroachment and then saved again with us 1-0 up to a fabulous Lee Hills goal. We then conceded in the 97th minute or something stupid like that when there were only 5 minutes to be played.

The one everyone will remember is the Freddie Sears ghost goal. However, I seem to remember some other last minute heartache from other fixtures in addition to that game.

Time to give them some payback!

Now I'm not here to rub it in but you were utterly atrocious. A few things I noticed about your side.

You need Paddy McCarthy back, without him your defence looked all over the place, Martin and Ramage were poor and Clearly had no confidence in each other, it looked like they needed a leader and neither of them would do it.

Garvan and Kiglagoi? Easily the 2 worst footballers I have seen at the gate in years, I dot think Garvan touched the ball once in te entire game, and Kiglagoi? Is slow, uninterested and over weight. Someone needs to have a word with him, for those not at the game don't let his goal hide the fact he was abysmal throughout.

Ultimately you are completely reliant on Zaha, Wilbrahim would look decent in a better side but he was clearly getting frustrated. Da Silva looked tidy when he came on, but apart from Zaha you had no threat from out wide at all, and you couldn't handle Skuse, who sat in the middle and dictated play.

Woolford and Adomah on the flanks really made hay, against a side completely lost of their confidence. The only player who got his foot in what Zedinak? The one who looks like a Trojan, but again he had so little quality on the ball just a hard worker.

Based on that you will go down, your squad depth and quality is just not good enough, where as we have improved greatly and are starting to please decent passing football, with the exception of Zaha it was all hoofball.....he goes or gets injured, your down.

Those blaming Freedman, if he has no money what can he do? Granted Ramage looked shitte but he really needs to bring some quality in, if the board won't back him then I think yor in real trouble.

O, and to that clown who posted that Speeroni, Moxey, Parr, Garvan, diglagoi, Zedinak and Wilbrahim would get into our side? Get in the real world. You should be emBarrassed stating such nonsense after the shitte you served up last night.

As for us, we are much improved as you saw, Cunningham at left back marshalled Zaha very well, and Woolford, Adomah and Taylor ripped ur lot apart, but for me Skuse MOM, dictated play and far too good for your midfield.

Thoughts?

He did post a couple of replies to some obvious abuse he got, but was never heard from again after that night.

His spelling wasn't very good either - Is Zedinak the only only person to have played for us beginning with Z apart from Zaha ??!!

Didn't they have a few posters (Oo r ya springs to mind) who would just come onto General Palace Discussion, and start threads "in peace" asking about what we thought about any upcoming game against them, then winding everyone up with utter bollocks! Would have been around the first time Warnock was manager and they were a pain in the arse results-wise.

Seriously? For me this is the worst possible draw, they are bang in form and with the opportunity of a Premiership scalp and playing at home, i know where the advantage will be.
We could be going there on the back of very tough games and possibly feeling a bit demoralised should we lose them, but win it and we are on the verge of "Wembley excitement" dreams, lose and we can then focus on more important matters ahead.

The Palace team that night included Neil Alexander, Florian Marange, Elliot Grandin, Stephen Dobbie and Owen Garvan and a number of youth team players

We managed to lose to a team that then went on a run of twenty games without a win

Palace fans that went that night and will be there again will be hoping there is no repeat. We are overdue a win there

I was there and there was some good banter between the fans. City were really overly agressive like we were Rovers or something.

"4-1, and you ****ed it up" :D

I was laughing at them and I will do again, but Ashton Gate has changed since and the away fans have moved ends and are now cut off from the home fans. They have their club provided flags for their wannabe Ultras in the corner but the singing only lasts for the first 15 minutes. They are full of shit.

The poster's name was Volt and this was what he posted

I think the last time I remember us winning there was an evening game(may have been the League cup) back in the late 70s when I didn't know the final result until I got the paper the next day! Far from it. Cup run could easily push our league form higher. Also dare I say it but if we beat Bristol and then our next opposition, the semis would be played in Jan. Might be slightly easier to sign a player if you can offer a cup semi final immediately....or am I just dreaming....

There was the 4-1 loss in the Championship in August 2012 (Freedman, car park, volt post etc.) and we went on to get promoted at the end of that season. And then in August 2013 we lost 2-1 there in the League Cup under Holloway when they were in League One. Both were disastrous performances but I would say the latter was far worse. You accept that you're going to see a reserve team when you travel to a match like that but you hope they will at least put in a bit of effort and try to impress. That match truly was one of the all time worst Palace performances I've ever had to watch.

My one and only trip to Bristol was in the sixties and city obviously knew little about Bobby Woodruff's long throw, they all gathered by the touchline expecting a typical throw in, so Bobby hurled a long throw to an unmarked Palace player in the penalty area who put the ball into the net.

The new 2 tier stand is to the right of the away end and the left is the redeveloped Dolman stand. All of their 'ultras', if you can call it that, go in the opposite corner to the away end. They don't open the top tier above their boxes because the stadium is too big for them.

Can't think of any - they are at home on the Saturday before, so no need to play a day later on the Wednesday.

Fixture is not confirmed on the City website, which also handles Basketball and Rugby tickets too and has a rather strange logo that looks like both male and female genetalia, so anything is possible in Bristol I guess.

There is one small fly in the ointment, Bristol Rovers are at home to West Ham's development team in the EFL Trophy on the same night, so maybe local old bill will have their hands full with the hoardes of Gasheads and West Am converging on the other side of the river for that crucial fixture?
