In media today, arse v Liverpool on 23/12 could be put back to Xmas eve.

If this happens, then presumably we won't be playing on Boxing Day 😩

Could then have knock on effect on our other 2 Xmas / new year fixtures

Hope not. I can't ever remember a game being played on Xmas eve. If it was rescheduled then I think it would go down like a lead balloon. Also extremely annoying for us, I was looking forward to going on Boxing Day.

Bloody Sky and Premier League.

Not only will it set an awful precedent and give fans, staff, police, players serious problems but also will have a knock on effect on several other fixtures.

Would it necessarily mean that Arsenal don't have to play on Boxing Day? Surely if they have to play 2 games in 3 days it could give us an advantage?

Talk of our game v Arsenal moving to 27th Dec. Nothing definite yet.

I'd rather not ruin my Christmas by watching us.

There's also very little public transport on Boxing Day.

Selhurst and Norwood couldn't cope with 20,000 people on a December night when there were not trains, how the hell would it cope with the majority rocking up in cars on Boxing Day?

Apparently Liverpool and Arsenal are powerless to stop this fixture being moved as they sold out , allowing the premier league to sell central broadcasting rights on their behalf.

Same as it has done previous Boxing Day games I would presume

^this.

A year ago, didn't we have to play Arsenal away and then Swansea at home in 3 days, yet Swansea had an extra day ahead of the latter fixture?

I think that was down to the club taking the premier league tv money at the time . The club could have at that time refused the request to move the game , something they did last season

It was actually 2 days, well 2 days apart I mean.

And they wonder why Christmas and New Year football is almost always shite

Latest on Christmas Eve fixtures is that Sky plan a Super Santa Special on Christmas Eve featuring not only Arsenal vs Liverpool but also West Ham vs Newcastle.

kin'ell. I have a feeling Newcastle already made a fuss that their away games at Swansea and Br*ghton were moved for tv into crappy kickoff times

Someone at Sky & BT really doesn't care about travelling fans

That much was blatantly obvious from last year's Friday night fixtures, forcing Palace and Southampton supporters to go to Everton and Manchester United respectively on Friday evenings.

About as genuine as Newcastle saying there is no way they can move away fans from up in the gods to a section lower down at St James Park.

But if it stops Sky pissing about then I'm all for Arsenal trying that one

December and January fixture tv changes were due to be announced by this Thursday, 12 October.

However according to the BBC website, we could be waiting a bit longer for some dates, due to the impasse over the Christmas eve games:-

The Football Supporters' Federation (FSF) said Scudamore had told them December's TV picks would be announced on 19 October, but possible Christmas Eve games and beyond would take another week to confirm

Those Christmas fixtures don't half appear to look a gruelling run, with what looks like 4 games in 9 or 10 ten days, before the FA cup kicks off a few days after that. Surely they've shoved one round of fixtures too many again.

outrageous that we play dec 28th at 8 pm (v arsenal) then have to play again on Dec 30th at 3 pm (v man city)

recovery time about 41 hours

that is scandalous and wouldn't happen to the richest clubs

Think it's fair to say the FA Cup won't be a priority this season. Any Cup hopes for us will be the League Cup imo

BBC aren't up to date then.

Arsenal (h) is 28th December 8pm - live on Sky Sports
Man City (h) is 31st December 12pm - live on BT Sport
Southampton (a) is still to be confirmed, but will most likely be 2nd or 3rd January 7.45pm

Don't worry, replacements will come pouring in as soon as the transfer window opens on 1 January.

We'll be in business on 1 February though. Or at least a few weeks after that when some old has been gets himself fit enough to take a seat on the bench.

Given our very limited squad options I think we'll have to basically play the stiffs for one of those games and man city feels like the obvious one. I doubt we'll beat them anyway and we will have more chance of taking points off Arsenal and Southampton.

Good point. We can barely select a decent 11 but I think we may as well write it off. We can't play the same 11 players three games running within six days. It reminds me of last season when Sam played a strong team against Arsenal and we lost badly and then our players were knackered for the more crucial next game, which I think was Swansea.
