When will we get off the bottom of the table ?

That's the spirit - first a "when will we score a goal" thread, now a "when will we get off the bottom" thread.

Baby steps, lads. Looking forward to the "when will we be mathematically safe" thread in April :lux:

Sadly after that late goal it wont be against west ham. But on a plus side only 2 teams in the bottom 6 picked up points

Wow it was looking grim today but grabbing that late goal made us gain ground by 1 point

Can we do the impossible at Wembley and then turn over Everton which i reckon would take us off the bottom

We will have to get 2 results better than Bournemouth in a row. A win and a draw and hope they lose both.

I admire your optimism but it would have been difficult for 2 of those six clubs to have picked up any points as they have not played yet. On the plus side they are playing each other so it is likely only one will pick up points - on the negative side at least one of them will pick up points

If Kane isn’t fit then we have every chance of getting something from spurs and we should treat it as a free hit and have a go. Then we have a favourable run of about 8 games.. where we need to be looking at getting 15-18 points from

Well today against everton was gutting we should have walked away with the 3 points but we cant keep performing like that and only take a single point

I feel we would be off the bottom game come the stoke game but surely its now written in the stars for it to be after Brighton isn't it ?

West brom now have spurs and Newcastle before they meet us and i cant see them getting anything from them games

Swansea have Bournemouth and Chelsea and then stoke and again i cant see them getting anything there

West ham have Watford , Leicester and then Everton and sadly i can see them getting some points

So i reckon after the next 3 games the bottom of the table will be

Palace
West Brom
Swansea

When we stop conceding stupid goals. I think the last league clean sheet we had was in early May.

We are scoring goals, but not freely. However if we have to score at least two because of ****wittery at the back we will struggle, and the forward players will get pissed off (saw Wilf having a pop today).

Let's get back to head it and kick it.

But do we want them to beat stoke tomorrow ?

Reg_Maudling

What gives hope and makes things less bad is that we have a team performing quite well and playing with effort and spirit and an experienced manager and coaching team who the players are playing for
And the fans by and large are backing the manager and team
In that way right now we are in a better position than west ham Everton swansea and west brom to name four others

We are improving and I not only think we will be off the bottom after Brighton, I think we will be out of relegation after WBA or at least Bournemouth.
Although Benteke missed some chances before his injury and one against Everton, the thing he does do is score in spurts and when he gets one more will follow.

We have had the three worst teams in the league hear and got 2 points off them. Everton being the worst of the lot. Stoke are a far better outfit so no chance there, and Brighton are unfortunately playing very well.

Things look dire but.... on December 16th last year Swansea had 12 pts and survived. We had 15pts. Today we have 5pts but have 6 games before December 17th this year so a possible 18pts to play for. 3 wins and a draw from those 6 games and we will be exactly where we were last Christmas. I think that's manageable.

What has made our task difficult to climb the table apart from the obvious of not being able to win games, is the teams we expected to be the usual suspects fighting relegation are playing above expectations and gained unexpected points.
For me the ray of hope is, we are playing fairly well since Roy took over and that always bodes well, its the lack of goalscoring is of major concern and it really needs Benteke to start banging them in on his return to the team. Also IF we can bring in a striker in January that can chip in with a few, and someone who ideally can play alongside CB to make our attack more potent as we are now at a point where we Must show adventure and bravery, only then we may have a chance of getting off the bottom and into a safe position.

Pretty good considering we only have a 31 game season. West Ham getting smashed at Everton and Huddersfield getting a spanking by Arsenal. We havenít even conceded the most goals either.

How bad is the so called "Most Competitive League in the World" this season?

We've been a shambles for quite a bit of it. We sacked a manager 4 games in. We haven't scored a goal away from home. We have one striker who has been injured for half of it. We have a choice between two "iffy" keepers. We've just kept our first clean sheet in over 6 months.

Yet despite all of the above, seven of the nine teams immediately above us have a worse record over their last five games and we are on the verge of not only getting off the bottom, but getting out of the relegation places.

You couldn't make it up!

And to think many had us already down a couple of weeks ago. Just ridiculous talk at this stage and with the way we're playing compared to others. Still in trouble but still firmly believe, as I did a month ago, that we will slowly but surely pull away

Only at Palace mate. We have more then a fighting chance and our destiny is in our own hands now. We have stabilised while all hell is breaking loose or is about to at other clubs, Wet Sham, Stoke, Swansea, WBA, Newcastle. Huddersfield have scored as many goals as us and 3 were against us. It really is Pantomime season.

Agreed. As I said on the current matchday thread, everyone from 9th down is definitely in the mix. We need to do our own thing. The table after 38 matches is the only one that matters, not 14.
