West Ham look poor but a decent new manager would get a lot more out of the quality players they have. You can tell they look much poorer without Carroll as well.

Murray had a brilliant game against WHU when he last played for us, but got sent off.

The spammers are a disjointed, disorganised and confused lot, and they now carry a lot of ego, so I'm not convinced that even a change of manager will turn them around overnight. Also, new manager bounce is a proven myth.

Pity we thought we were too good to keep a player like Murray. Delusions of grandeur. Reminds me of Charlton Leeds Fulham.

Yeah agreed. Oozed class and his goals per game wasn't bad in that half season under Pardew. Got 7 or 8 after Christmas that year. Should never have been allowed to leave.

That said his heart seems to be more with Brighton than Palace, so **** him.

Brighton are at the beginning of the vicious circle we're in. They'll play this entrenched huff and puff style for a couple of seasons to survive and then want more. Maybe "put the ball a risk a bit more" or hire big name coaches for a few matches...then "re-dial" it all again.

And all the time the wage bill will devour the club from the inside.

Like say, Stoke or West Brom too, the first couple of underdog seasons where you don't care about style of play can sometimes be the most fun you'll ever have in this division.

Last I remember of him in a Palace shirt was having a barney with Wilf (?) walking off at half time and not coming back on for the second. Like others, I think he just wanted to move on. A shame for us and him that he didn't stay, I think he'd have played a lot more often than he probably thought he would with Wickham coming in.

I don't blame him given the way he was treated!

Could you be more specific?

He received long-term medical care from Palace (quite rightly) that helped save his career after a serious injury.

He was then in the team, though more often on the bench when we were in the Prem.

I understand he wanted to start more games, but we had competition for places and playing one up front.

Having gone to Bournemouth where he didnít start that often either, thereís an argument that he would have done just as well to stay with us.

It was his choice...a different person might have stayed at Palace and fought to be the main pick, rather than leave.

I donít remember it as being as one-sided as that. He went to Reading, down one division, for 3 months to get more matchplay and fitness.

He did well and was rewarded with a contract extension when he returned.

Personally I donít think he was treated appallingly, but was expected to accept that he wouldnít always start. Wickham was more of a threat to him for the one striker position than Kevin Doyle ever was.

Heís not the only good Palace player who has had spells on the bench whilst weíve been in the Prem, and then faught their way back into the starting 11. For example, Scott Dann, Wilf, Townsend etc.

I would have liked Glen to fight for his place rather than leave, but that was his choice. With the injuries to Wickham, he would have played more often than he thought.

IKante basically protects and removes the space created by playing a back three. With out that type of player it's extremely vulnerable to players making runs in the channels. That's why I can't get my head around Conte not making the adjustment to shore up the defense
