Fan of Cantona I suppose.

Oh dear.

Must have learnt a few tricks living in Manchester!

Would have thought that could end his career at this stage. Certainly looking at a very lengthy ban, be interesting to see it in comparison to you know who.

There were a few Marseille on their way to the game last week, they were clued right up on Palace though. Must've been a good game for neutrals, particularly the second half - I had thea feeling they were more Palace than West Ham though, only heard Palace names mentioned - unless it was the Payet link.

Sorry, nothing to do with Evra the Dragon

What a wanker. Shows the contempt some players have for the people who actually make them the money they earn.
Just wish that lot in the stand had managed to get at the little runt and torn him to pieces. Surely thats him done with Marseille now and rightly so.

I expect he'll be allowed to train some kids whilst the fan is crucified by the media

Can't understand what Evra is thinking, but it says those fans broke through barriers to confront him. These people were threatening in the extreme. I suppose many would run away, but extreme provocation sometimes results in extreme responses.

There is a clip on Twitter which shows the lead up to the kick. Puts a different slant on matters.

Maybe he was trying to curry favour with the england fans that were getting attacked by gangs of Marseille fans last year.

He has a 2-3ft advertising board between him and the fan and the whole pitch behind him into which he has access. Self defence is not a option here, he could have walked away, he should have walked away.

Should be career over for him now at his age. Should be getting a 6 month ban from all football and be sacked by Marseille.

The weaselly little shit cant have done much damage with that attempt. Wankers and ex-wankers are all the seem.

Didn't he have a roll around with a groundsman at Chelsea once upon a time too?

Wasn't he pretty disparaging about joining palace once?

He must be having an horrific time of it on the pitch this season if the fans are having a go for 30 mins before kick off! still if you are going to steal close to 100k a week some people will call you on it.

The only part of this that surprise me is that Paddy Crerand isn't all over the media defending him yet.

Mutch gets off lightly. Mind you, if he tried karate kicking a fan he'd probably injure himself.

Nope, I do a little too. Seems overall to be a decent enough bloke but maybe a bit punchy. He shouldn't have reacted like that though.

I don’t know...how can fans be that angry that they’re kicking off stuff with the players during the warm up!

There must be more background to this incident, but if I ever became so wound up about a player before the match has even started, I’d just be inclined to stay home and reconsider my priorities.

If you can speak the lingo, it might say here why they had the rats with him.

Yea... although I still remember him diving against us in the game when Ashley Young got KG sent off, but he seems to have had some kind of mental breakdown... like he snapped after 30mins of abuse.

From what I read, he has been attrociously poor for them since they signed him.

Imagine us continuing with Davids for the sake of it, and Davids not putting his hands up and retiring.

Imagine, if we continued to play The Hen and he just got increasing worse. You are looking at that Soare incident and having 50, 100. 200, 500 fans pissed off enough to target a player like that.

Somewhat like a number of HF numpties running the whole length of a stand to give cut throat gestures to Holloway.

Trying to make excuses for the appalling behaviour. It's always someone else's fault.
