Great stuff ozeagle. I love a flutter. I think a weekly tipster would be great. My best win of the season was when I had money on Palace to be losing at half time and winning at full time in the Walsall game. Came in at 33/1. Get in AJ!

How on earth were Bristol City odds-off to meet Mansfield? Do the bookies not look at the league table or their eventual struggle to finish off Team Bath?
Ooh another Counting Crows fan

Ozeagle, I love my football betting, and specialise in backing teams away from home.
I use to do my conkers each week on the horses, but since the start of the football season I haven't backed a horse, and never will again.
I live in a town which only has a Corals. Yes, the only bookies who wouldn't take bets on singles in all divisions as from the start of the season. So me and a few mates have boycotted them, and opened up several on-line and telephone accounts. By far the best one is Betfair. Now if you are a serious punter you will be aware that this will be the future of betting in this country. On average, on football bets alone, you get a 20% better book. Another huge advantage is that you can lay teams. If you have the funds, and the know how, and big conkers, you can make alot of money.
I'm about £230 up so far this season, most of which was on Betfair.
I backed Wigan yesterday, but only got on at 2.75, I was after some 2.8 and 2.85 as well.
I do like the look of Blackburn today. There record at Charlton has been good of late, and if you can play at odds of 7/4 or better, I suggest you play.

MAXIMUM WAGER ALERT !
Been searching high and low for some value bets this weekend, and I think i've found a couple.
Bolton V Blackburn
Blackburn are just about to turn the corner. The arrival of Hakan Sukur seems to have bucked up the idea's of Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke. They are a good bet to win the game out-right, but the 5/1, minus a goal on the handicap, seems to me to be a silly price. I've been trying to get on at 2.85, 2.9, and 3.0 on Betfair on a staright match bet, but i'm not too confident i'll be able to. I did ask for it last Sunday, but no joy.
Crewe V Mansfield
The second bet this weekend, is again on the handicap. Mansfield have leaked over 50 goals in the league this season. Even Adebola could score against them ! Crewe have played them twice this season at Field Mill, and have won 4-0 and 5-0. Rob Hulse is one of the leagues top scorers, and with Dean Ashton coming into a bit of form, they are a good wager. Get on Crewe, minus a goal, at 11/10.
Another bet you should look at this weekend, in a Lucky 15 maybe. Cardiff, Crewe, Blackburn, and Middlesbrough.
The odds for my naps are both available with Totalbet.

Ozeagle. The Racing Post tip Bristol City to beat Harrowgate Railways 4-0 or 5-0. Another option would be the handicap. I know your not a great fan of this, but you can get even money, Bristol City minus one gaol. Go to the totalbet website.

As I said Citys 1st goal should not have been allowed, therefore morally it's still 0-0 as no one knows if City would have scored a second if the first had been disallowed as it should have been.

Like the look of Valencia tonight. Especially with Pablo Aimar coming back into the team. Trying to get some 4.0 on Betfair.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Blackburn away to Everton. Trying to get some 4.2, which looks massive. The real bet is to try and lay Everton at anything better than 2.2.
My old favourite comes into play again this weekend. I'm looking to back Blackpool away to Mansfield. Looking for 2.8, which I would say is very unlikely.
The real teaser is Newcastle away to Southampton. Newcastle are trading at 3.2 not long ago. There are some pro's and con's with this. Newcastle don't have a very good record away to the Saints, and were losing in the first two minutes a month ago in the reverse fixture. Questions have to be asked about there ability to get results along way from home. Remenber the poor losing run they went on when playing in London. The one big positive is that Alan Shearer and Craig Bellamy will both come out all guns blazing after not playing in the Champions League game. It's a game that needs some careful research.
I'm off to Highbury tonight - fancy a small wager of Valencia -

I tried to start a thread along these lines 6 months ago but it just fell off the BBS never to be seen again. Anyway yeah I have a couple of little flutters every week. Years of having my fingers/wallet burnt has led me to a very obvious but safe system, basically I look for deadcerts, usually I put one British 5 team yankie together and one rest of Europe yankie, I find some of the smaller leagues like Belguim, Holland,Scotland etc are easier to predict. Club Brugge, Ajax, Rangers etc at home are as near to deadcerts as you can get. Usually I get 4 out of 5 which gets me my money back at least. Not particularly brilliant I know but I've been trying this method since the beginning of the season and im actually £20 up, mickey mouse money I know but at least im up.
I look at football-punter.co.uk, gooonersguide.co. uk and bethelp.com which are all excellent.

I am fond of a punt on tennis, although it would mainly revolve around Wimbledon. I do have a strong fancy for the mens title next year. Roger Federer. Won the junior title a few years back, is still young, likes the grass (although his record suggests maybe not), and best of all, he was playing some excellent tennis at the end of the tour. He was coming back to his very best form.
I backed Danialls Hantuchova and Taylor Dent at Wimbledon this year and had quite a good run for my money. I did actually go on middle Saturday and saw Hantuchova in the flesh. What a women. I also saw Kournikova, but she was really put in the shade by Hantuchova. She was simply stunning.
Taylor Dent is a very very good grass court player. Unfortunately he is quite raw and erratic. On his day, on grass he could beat anybody, no matter who they are or how well they are playing. Definately have him on your side in single match betting.

Long term markets.
So far on this thread, there has been alot of tipping for up and coming matches. Has anybody had some long term bets, maybe at the start of the season ? I'm on to one loser already. Birmingham to finish above Everton. Although, I also had abet with the same person that Clinton Morrison would outscore Jermaine Defoe in the Premioership with a four goal start.
My one and only ante post with a bookmaker (my last bet with Coral), was Brighton to be relegated and Man Utd to win the Champions League. One double and two singles, and I couldn't be happier at the moment. I really can only see either Man Utd, Juventus, and Valencia winning it. Man Utd are my favourites. If I had massive conkers, i'd love to lay Real Madrid and Arsenal. Got Brighton at 7/2, and Man Utd at a massive 8/1.

Plugster, give up betting on tennis,
Dent is a hack, the only good thing about him is his Oz dad, Phil. Dent has a big serve, and that's it. Hantuchova is quality and could be one to challenge the Williams sisters.
Federer has a heart like a pea, give up on him, he was smashed in the 1st round by M Ancic this year, and following him overall will mean taking under the odds forever.
Follow a man like Paradorn Srichaphan, this year got on him when he was 81 in the world, now 17..headed for top 5 next year, mark my words.
I won an absolute fortune on the bloke.

Yes, Man U, good chance, Brighton may well get out of it, don't like long term my self, want that instant cash back.
Although saying that, I may have a few £ on Chelsea to win the W Cup....9/2 what a price. Man U aren't interested in it, and Chelsea need a certain way to get into Europe, this is it...expect a 3-1 win at Old Trafford next week. Then, watch the price tumble to Evens.
Don't ask me what I'll do if we play them in the final

Anybody fancy Leicester away to the Seaweed tomorrow. Got on at even money.
Also looking at Villa away to Chelsea at the weekend. Crewe away to Swindon to.
Got on Leeds at 22.0 to win the FA Cup. Massive price.

Sheff Wednesday away to Grimsby. Trying to get some 3.65.
Crewe away to Swindon. On at 2.38 on Betfair. Best price. :)
Reading away to Crewe. Got on Reading at a massive 4.2. Again, best price available on Betfair.:)
Also got the best price on Leicester last night. Its very nice when you get proper value.

If Crewe are playing two teams at once surely you've got to back against them in both games!!! ;)
Gutted I've only just seen this thread. Tried to get the BBS to make a new betting forum in the summer and even offered to plough insome sponsorship money through One More Point. They didn't like the idea which is fair enough - just glad we've got this up and running.
What chance of it being made a sticky?
Couple of points - glad to see Petehead feature in this thread. They've been very good for me this season and the last four weeks have seen them win 4-0, 4-1 and 4-2. Lovely!
The other teams to continually look for are Inverness (although with their manager redently departing they might be on on teh slide) Falkirk (aweome at home) and Raith. Happy punting and keep those tips coming! :)

Ok, i'm going large. Very confident (bold statement in my form) I have three shoe-ins for Boxing Day. I top class treble.
Forest away to Sheff Wed, 1/1 with Paddy Power.
Coventry home to Reading, 6/5 with Paddy Power.
Crewe away to Cheltenham, 6/5 with Paddy Power.
Of the three, Forest look maximum wager material. Confident you could get around 2.2 on Betfair.
One last thing. Would you back Palace at say 5.5, or lay Portsmouth at about 1.6 ?

Just got back from the in-laws for Xmas and been itching to get internet coverage so I could lay Pompey at 1.6. 1-1 at present and I feel like I will be regrettiung not placing the bet before Christmas. Let's see how the last 30 mins pans out - I may well be pleased I didn't do the bet.

Rangers to win
Celtic to win

...."Two out of three ain't bad".
Needed Forest for a lovely treble yesterday, but they let me down and showed a small loss.
Four good ones again for this weekend.
Leeds at home to Chelsea at around 3.0. Surely they have fromed this book the wrong way round ? Chelsea as short as 2.2. Utter madness.
Luton away to Wycombe. Massive morale boosting win against Cardiff on Boxing Day. Good record away from home. To big at 2.78.
Crewe at home to Oldham. In as good a form as any team in the league (well sort of). Been a real punters pal to me this season. They have come in for me five or six times. Haven't backed them when they've let me down. Scoring loads and not letting many in. Get on at 1.98.
Finally I really like Derby away to Reading. Derby can beat anybody on their day, but are an in and out side. Readings good run has come to an end, big time. Its no coincidence that they have lost all three games since Matt Upson went back to Arsenal. Not scoring goals either. Derby to big at 4.0.
Whack them all in a Yankee and back them individually.

Doh! I told me so!
Just thinking about it, with the advent of betfair.com the bet every week has simply got to be to lay whoever Palace are playing. OK, so we don't win all the time but just seven losses in nearly 30 games in all comps (six in 25 in league) is a very handy record.
Like the sound of your tips Plugster. I'll be off to betfair in a mo to nab some of that value. Outstanding pick with the Crewe result at Cheltenham by the way. :p

Grimsby at 2.88 looks good. They've just won 2/2 while Norwich are on the slide and even slumped at home to the Seaweed!!!
Typically it was 2.9 when I looked. By the time I'd compared it to the other odds it had gone down to 2.86, which I snapped up. Just looked again and now the odds are 2.88!!!
Palace can be snapped up for 280/1 to win the FA Cup yet even at that price it's dead money.

Why on earth do I tip these teams then not follow them up with regular bets. Only had Raith in my acca today. Two mins to go - a goal for either Sheffield team will win me money. PLEEEEASE!

Now that I feel I am in a better bit of from now, I'll look ahead to New Years Day.
Definatley like the chances of Luton away to Chesterfield. For all the reasons I backed them against Wycombe on Saturday. See if you can get some 3.0.
After seeing Preston yesterday, I would be betting against them with Stoke. Stoke are slowly turning their form around and are scoring more goals. I thought Preston were really quite poor. Looks like they are staring to miss the presence of Ricado Fuller, especially in away games. Look for some 3.0.
Any body got any early fancies for the FA Cup ? Theres got to be a chance of a few shocks. Got a slight fance for Bristol City away to Leicester.

yeovil over forest green
bournemouth over swansea
crewe over mansfield...
get over 3.0

No, these are decimal odds and are the returns including your stake. For example, if you put a quid on something at 2.8 you get £2.80 back, including your stake. It is the equivalent of 1.8/1.

Give the guy credit - he'd done well leading up to this. Maybe it was a New Year hangover clouding his judgment!
Luckily I tried to do his bet at 2.55 but spent so long trying to work out why Reading v Leicester wasn't available (it had kicked off earlier) that it went past 3pm and I missed the chance to bet. Just as well really! ;)
Are you sure about Palace? Thought about it myself then realised a) when we last won an away match in the cup and b) then even worse when I realised how long it's been since we won away in the Third Round. It's scary when you realise how long it is. :(

they won't, meaning we'll need 1, and the form Tommy's in, particularly against Div 2

As I have been in such poor form recently, I thought I would have a look a see what my financial position was over the season so far. I was stunned to find out that I am showing a profit of £90.95. I know ozeagle will have trouble believing this, but its true. I've checked my records twice and come up with the same figures !
No really strong fancies this weekend, although I will still be having a punt.
Wimbledon away to Rotherham at about 3.5. Rotherham have lost there last three home games (I think) after only losing to Portsmouth before losing to Palace, Millwall, and Sheff Wed. Wimbledon are a good team and have scored plenty of goals away from home.
Sheff Wed away to Gillingham at 5.5. Sheff Wed have alot of good players and are in a so called false position in the league. There recent form is good and in general, I just fancy them.
Bristol City away to Leicester at 7.4. Again, very much one I just fancy. was tempted to lay Leicester but i'm just to tempted by the big odds on Bristol City. They have only lost once in the last 17 games.

Ozeagle beware. Before lumping on Charlton, take into consideration that they have a very poor record of going out of the cup in the early rounds and playing poorly against lower league teams. Do some research first.

plugster, your redeeming feaure is that you select teams at odds, so please don't think i'm having a go...
i always spend the utmost time researching my tips (ask Ozeaglette), in this case i care nothing for past years records, Charlton will win comfortably, they are as strong as they've ever been, it'll be eay for them.
by the way, i'm celebrating my 5.6-1 double on the tennis today, jean paul lisnard to beat rainer schuettler, and stefan koubek to take out younes el nayaoui !!

OK, who was it who couldn't resist the 280 being offered on Palace to win the Cup on Betfair? Own up because I've got an original Van Gogh I want to sell you - honest! ;)
Having a quick scan through the odds on Betfair and I have to hold my hands up to sticking a couple of quid on Exter at 18.5 - at that price I couldn't resist. Besides, Woking beat WBA at 20/1 in 1991 and that was before the Betfair days, so who knows.
Seems like the value's being dried out of some of the ones I had a fancy for. Was hoping for 3.5 on Wimbledon and only got 3.2. Backing against Leeds should pay dividends.
Elsewhere I've got a nice position on John Part to win the PDC Darts without Phil Taylor. A win tonight and it's in. Having said that, having seen Taylor wobble last night in a titanic struggle with Dennis Smith, I'm tempted to lay Taylor overall at 1.25. Tough match against Warriner tonight and maybe Part in the final. I know he's the greatest player of all time but the other players are getting the feeling they can beat him and that hasn't happened for a few years.
Hey oz, any more tennis tips?

bloody Gaudio shafted us last night, he is a player of much promise, luckily i got mine back on Srichaphan, had to take the shorts, but got my cash back, still, 10 of 11 aint too bad...hope you loaded the 5 fold.
the trick with tennis is to avoid the players who can be upset, and it takes a good year to work them out...some will never lose in the opening couple of rounds, some do, 2 to avoid are Kafelnikov and Federer..both of them hearts like peas....
initial thoughts for the weekend, seriously are to super load the double, Palace away at Bradford and the rampant Cardiff away at Northampton...yes, i know Northampton have a new coach, alas they are 0 for and 10 against their last 3 at home, against a quality side, expect cardiff 2 or 3 nil, likewise Bradford have no forwards, and we have a great defence, with Tommy on fire, expect 1 or 2 zip to Palace.
in the mercedes golf take Retief Goosen to beat Howell in the head to head, and perhaps Ian Poulter to beat anders Hansen..Poulter usually very strong early, bottles it at the finish..
don't like Sheff Utd, think Liverpool can grind out a win.
as for Charlton, don't like them either, but you may have the historical perspective..chelsea have the best home defence in the league
i REALLY like Burton Albion to take out Leigh RMI in the Conference..that's my best. get on, and put plenty on.

Has a look at the weekend, and have come up with my three probable punts.
Palace away to Bradford. We have a good record against them, and are playing with alot of confidence. Another good thing is that we have players coming back from injury. Our current team will have an eye on the Liverpool game, and won't want the injured players coming back to get in the team. Getting bigger with Betfair. Trying to get some 2.7.
Charlton away to Chelsea. Good to the see that the Chelsea of old are on th eway back. Charlton have an excellent record in recent years, home and away against Chelsea. Thry are also very good in the London derby games. Betfair, pppllleeeaaassseee give me some 7.0.
Forset away to Preston. Preston are really, really missing Ricardo Fuller. Four defeats in the last four games, one, at home to Rochdale in the FA Cup. Only scored once in these games to. I went to West Ham v Forest last weekend and Forest played some nice football. They also created quite alot of chances. Forest have struggled to score goals away recently, but looked to me to be a team on the up again. Betfair, huge bet if you can get the 2.96.

Steve, Ed Powell who does the latest sporting odds on Talksport (blue Square) Said the other day, there were two teams he would be very reluctant to ever put a wager on. Man City and our very own Palace!!! Mainly due to the in consistency both teams show.
I wouldn’t touch Man city, two erratic the only consistency they offer is there inconsistency.

OK, bit of advice needed. I see at the moment France are 13/2 to win the Rugby world cup. Conceivably they will go out to 8/1 or more if they lose to England at Twickenham on the first weekend of the Six Nations (which I believe they will do). I’ve had a look at the draw and there’s no way I can’t see them making the last four and they might well win it. This sounds like to good a bet to be true. Where have I gone wrong? Also will I get the same return if they lose in the semis as the final on an e/w and what will that be? (assuming a stake of a ton at 8/1).

Each way is usually first two only in knockouts ie reach the final and that is basically the flaw in the whole argument. They can't reach the final without beating at least one side that they shouldn't really be able to beat especially in the Southern Hemisphere

Think Riley will do the bizz tonight but not playing on that one at the available prices. Charles Howell to beat Rich Beem is the one for me tonight. An all round better player with great length of the tee, just needs to start holing a few putts and he will take off.

I haven't gone anywhere. Just a bit inactive at the moment. Only managed to back Sri Lanka at 5.0 the other night. My request of5.5 was not matched, which was unfortunate.
Backed England to beat Australia tonight. Backed them at 3.4, and after some 3.5 to. Much of my reasoning for backing us, is the same for backing Sri Lanka yesterday. Confidence is on the up in the England camp. I feel Markus Trescothick is very close to a big knock in the one-day series. He has an even more carefree atitude than in the test matches.
No strong tips for the weekend football action. But I will list them in order of my favoured ones first. Starting with......
Charlton to beat Chelsea. Charlton are very good in the London derby games. They also have a good record against Chelsea home and away. In the first game of the season, they were 2-0 up, had a player sent off, and eventually lost 3-2. They were very unlucky.
Palace to beat Bradford. We are playing well at the moment and all the players will be on a high. Not only because we are playing well, but also because the team will be buzzing about the Liverpool game. As I said in an earlier post, the team, at the moment will be aware of the likes of Johnson, Akinbiyi, Routeledge, Borrowdale, and Thomson all waiting in the wings after coming back from injuries. The real bet is to lay Bradford, but i'm going to back Palace.
Hull to beat Exeter. Hull are playing well at themoment and have beaten the league leaders at their new ground recently. Just a bit of a fancy. One that I will be putting in my Yankee.
Peterhead to beat Elgin. Thrashed them away 4-0 in December. Everybody seems to back them, but I never have. Will take all the beating, and again. one for the Yankee.
Backed them all individually, and did I mention, I'm putting them all in a yankee. Best price for the hhmmmmm Yankee is £141.32 to a £1 stake.:D :)

Charlton to beat Chelsea!? Silly, Silly bet. :hmph:
My personal thoughts are that Fulham are too big to ignore at 7/4 at the Reebok, as are Wrexham at 8/5 away to Boston. :p I'll be backing Palace too, coz, well, we're better than them.
I've got £60 on Riley at 8/11 in the golf btw.

How can England put themselves in a position like that, and still lose . 165 for 0, then lose seven wickets in 99 balls. I am really, really pi**ed off. If Australia were to put themselves in a similar position, you would back them to win 99 times out of 100. England cricketers simply do not know how to win a game. As for Nick Knight saying "we are very dissapointed". England will never, ever win anyhting worth winning with the current mangement and players.
I feel I have been bbaaddllyy let down.

Had a nice winner last night. Backed Bury away to Swansea at 2.24. 0-3 after 30 minutes, Swansea battled back to 2-3 with 12 minutes to go, but Bury held on.
Couldn't fancy anything tonight, apart from maybe backing +2.5 goals. Nothing like a good bet though, so not playing.
My one to get stuck in to this weekend is Forest at home to Coventry. I backed Forest away to Coventry earlier in the season when they won 0-1. They have a very good record against Coventry, and score plenty of goals at home. They look a big price at about 2.42.
The other one I may have a bet on is laying Portsmouth away to Brighton. Pomey are in poor form, and if they aren'y careful, won't go up automatically this sesason. Brighton have all to play for, and its nearing the business end of the season, where Steve Coppell will be at his best. Hands up who'd back Pompey at 1.9, not me. I'd be a big layer at around 1.83. If I had the money I would also lay them in the First Division Championship race at 1.67.

Trying too hard to find something? I don't know, just guessing
I managed to get Riley at 2.26 in the end so that's two wins out of two since I spotted this thread. Klijsters and Agassi both still in but Andre looked a touch shakier last night!
I try very hard not to bet on individual football matches as I think the fascination of the game is its unpredictability - but I do sometimes give in to temptation! And I bet on CPFC to win 5-0 and 5-1 every match!

Sticking with the one single this weekend, Forest to beat Coventry. I'll let you know the price I get but it will be about 2.3.
Had a bet on a little double tomorrow to. York to beat Swansea (4/6), and Bury to beat Boston (4/6), with Paddy Power.
Looked at next week and have a fancy for Bury at Carlisle, and Blackpool away to Swindon.

Have any of you guys tried out the subscription arbitrage services (e.g. www.sports-arbitrage.com)?
For those of you who are unaware, arbitrage involves finding two bookies whose odds are so divergent that you can place a bet with each and know that you will end up with a cash positive net result. E.g.
*** For simplicity, this example ignores draws ***
If Palace are playing Liverpool a local SE bookie might offer 2/1 on Palace and 1/3 on Liverpool. In Scouse City, however, local money might mean that the odds might be 4/1 Palace and 1/2 Liverpool. If you backed Palace in the Liverpool bookie 's and Liverpool in the S. Norwood bookies, each at £100 you would be guaranteed a win:
£100 * Palace @ 4/1 = +400 if Palace win, -100 if Palace lose
£300 * L'pool @ 1/2 = -300 if Palace win , +150 if Palace lose
= Net £100 if Palace win, Net £50 if Palace lose.
*** As I said earlier, for simplicity, this example ignores draws ***
At present, I try to focus most of my bets to situations where I know I will be able to arbitrage nicely. e.g. for a £45 initial stake, I have worked myself into a position where I will win £68.50 if England win the VB Cup in Australia, and will make £5 if either Aus or SL win.
At present, I use my own research to discover/manipulate my arbitrage positions, but I don't really have the time and was wondering if anyone had tried out sites such as www.sports-arbitrage.com.
(P.S. Occasionally, my heart gets the better of my brain and I go for bets such as £20 on Palace to win 3-1 vs. Burnley tomorrow at 14/1 !!!)
(P.P.S. I also have £50 on Palace at 300/1 to win the FA Cup. Given that I could now lay them at 220/1 that would give me a guaranteed return of £4,000 if Palace win, and no downside if Palace (by some miracle) fail to win the cup.. Should I wait until after we beat the Scousers before I lay Palace? I reckon that after such a result Palace would reduce to (say) 80/1 for the cup, which effectively represents odds of 220/80 (i.e. just under 3/1 for the Palace win) for the Palace win...

The biggest hassle I found initially was that most of the online bookies use decimal odds (i.e. 2.5 = 3/2, 1.5 = 2/1 on or 1/2) which, although logical enough, still took a bit of getting used to. However, the up-side of digital odds is that they do make the maths easier.
Put simply, in a two team competiton (with no draw available) if you can find odds of x on Team A winning and y on Team B winning, then you are guaranteed a return if (x-1) * (y-1) > 1.
So, if Team A are quoted at 1.25 and (4/1 on) and Team B are quoted at 6 (5/1) then by backing each to win, say £100 (inc. stake), you are guaranteed a win as (0.25 * 5) = 1.25 which is greater than 1.
You would need to put £80 on Team A to win, and £16.67 on Team B to win. Then if Team A won, you would make 20-16.67 = £3.33. If Team B won, you would make 83.33 - 80 = £3.33.
The downsides of arbitrage are:
i) finding the opportunities in the first place,
ii) placing the bets in time,
iii) the fact that you are typically working with fairly small margins and consequently, if placing bets with multiple bookies, you might need quite a bit of cash on deposit to guarantee you having enough credit to place the bets

Baddeley: 'Dot-com' kid schooled his game on Nationwide Tour Jan. 21, 2003
GolfWeb Wire Services
HONOLULU -- Aaron Baddeley is called "dot-com" by some of his peers, a reference to the brash kid who had big dreams, limited success and the audacity to wear the name of his Web site -- Badds.com -- on his hat and golf bag.
There might be a better reason to tag him with that nickname: his success on the Nationwide Tour .
He was eligible to play on the European Tour. Instead, he chose the Nationwide Tour, now in its 13th year.
"I had the best year of my life," Baddeley gushed.
Skill was never a problem for the 21-year-old Aussie.
Baddeley showed he had loads of talent by winning the Australian Open in back-to-back years as a teen-ager, then taking out Sergio Garcia in a playoff at the Holden International.
He never lacked a swagger, either.
Baddeley talks openly about wanting to topple Tiger Woods as No. 1 in the world. He relished his final-round pairing with Ernie Els at the Sony Open in Hawaii , and probably offended some by saying after his playoff loss, "I didn't have my A-game ... and I still had a chance to win."
What he needed was an education.
Instead of showing up on the PGA TOUR a half-dozen times a year, Baddeley spent a full season on the Nationwide Tour, playing a 17-event schedule.
He learned how to practice during the week, how much to work out. He gained a better appreciation for scoring -- when a par isn't great, when a bogey isn't all that bad.
"Things you only get through playing," he said.
Baddeley forced a playoff at the Sony Open in Hawaii with a birdie on the 72nd hole.(AP)
Baddeley was a runner-up three times, and with a PGA TOUR card dangling in front of him, he closed out the year with four finishes in the top 15. He was 10th on the money list.
Equally important, the Boy Wonder from Down Under made friends.
Lots of them.
He hung out with Arron Oberholser and Jeff Klauk, spending time with them in the gym, in the sushi bars and on the practice range.
"We had dinner quite a bit," Klauk said. "He loves sushi. He'll go to the same restaurant every night if he finds something he likes."
A fitness freak who can lift 310 pounds, Baddeley used to ham it up for rules officials. Whenever they would ask directions, he would flex his muscles to point the way.
"There was a huge process that we got to watch evolve, where he came from a guy who enjoyed worldwide success but still wasn't on his own," said Joe Chemycz, a media official on the Nationwide Tour.
"He learned how to play, how to travel, how to make decisions, how to be disciplined. It was fun to see. It was like his freshman year in college, only he didn't put on 15 pounds."
College was never a consideration.
Baddeley announced his career plans at age 14 when he told his father that he was giving up cricket and wanted to play on the PGA TOUR. After winning the Australian Open, his father set aside $30,000 for him to play whatever
TOUR events he could.
Baddeley rarely made the cut and was never in contention. His confidence starting to wane, Baddeley dumped Aussie swing coach Dale Lynch and hooked up with David Leadbetter, with whom he has spent the last 18 months.
They worked on getting the clubface more square, making his swing more shallow.
Woods won just twice on tour over an 18-month span when he reshaped his swing. Then again, Baddeley didn't have the luxury of a PGA TOUR card, not to mention a 12-stroke victory in The Masters.
"It was probably a blessing in disguise playing the Nationwide Tour," he said. "I could work on my game and still play. There's a bit of pressure out there trying to change your swing and still try to get your card."
Give him a choice, and Baddeley says he would have preferred to be on the TOUR a few years ago. Kids are always in a hurry.
"But would I change the last two years? No," he said. "What I learned the last two years will hold me in good stead for the rest of my life."
It led him to Waialae Country Club for the Sony Open in Hawaii, and a performance that suggests it won't be long before he becomes the 60th Nationwide Tour grad to win in the big leagues.
He caught Els with a birdie on the 14th hole, and never flinched the rest of the way, putting enormous pressure on the No. 2 player in the world. It ended on a miracle putt by Els from 43 feet off the fringe for birdie on the second playoff hole.
"I thought the kid was going to go away, but he kept at me," Els said. "He's going to win a lot of titles."
