Now THAT is a bad result, 0-0 against 10 man Tranmere. Apparently Euell has already won 'miss of the season' with a sitter of Rosenthal proportions.

Interesting to listen to anti-Christ Mullery going on about wimpledon's 'great support', and he was serious !!!
How great can 8,266 be ???? Funny how they can't even fill the Holmesdale even if they're allowed the away support in there as well. Welcome to the Nationwide squatters.

How many were there?

I'd thought their crowd for the opening game was going to be worse than that to be honest, if that's their average gate it will be more than Stockport, Crewe and Grimsby. I'd doubt that Tranmere brought that many.

Well the crowd was about 8,200 which suprised me as it was better than a club who's only sold 3,500 season tickets would surely expect to get. However I reckon Tranmere bringing 15,000 explains the big, by Wombles standard, turn out.

The papers also seemed to suggest that it was in part the tiny crowd that demorilised the wfc players. In a strange sort of way having a fairly full stadium in the Premiership(even if it was mostly away fans) sort of lifted the side. I really hope that those parasites fail. Remember how they have these Charlton style sad attempts to be our rivals and how they laughed at our problems over the last few seasons.

I heard on Capital Gold that Tranmere were taking 1500 to the match. Opening matches of the season attrach larger crowds than normal, so it all points to Wimblegone having s**t support. Its down hill from now on for them.

I think, that for the wombles, they should open up the whole of the Arthur Waite to away fans. Although I cannot see them making any more money, apart from the cup ties if they get any quality ties.

There was a "crowd scene" photo in the News of the World - a block of seats in what looked like the Arthur Waite with how many fans in it? Yep, 1.

Early days yet.
I remember us drawing 0-0 with Tranmere at home on the opening day we then lost at Bristol before pissing the division.

I think they do usually give away fans all the Arthur Waite - and sometimes the Whitehorse as well (can you imagine any other teams giving the opposition 2 whole stands http://cpfc.org/ubb/sarcblink.gif )

This is true - I was at Wombles v Sunderland and the Mackems filled the Arthur Waite and most of the Whitehorse.

The Wombles, of course, could barely half-fill the Holmesdale. Their support is shocking and the Premiership is better off without them

Our opening home game will have twice that attendance....

Moving this to the World of Football forum guys ...

BTW - loved the shot of the empty Arthur Waite stand in the news of the world, with the headline "Wimble-gone" !! http://cpfc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

The fans were never there in the first place - it was 20,000 opposition fans that filled up Selhurst whenever the Dons play there.

My Tranmere supporting mate was there, said it was worst game he'd ever seen. Funny, cos the worst Palace game I saw was against Tranmere.
