View Full Version : Hypocracy of Denis Irwin

Denis Irwin had his testimonial last night - Man Utd beat Man City 2-0. He was moaning that "the tackles were flying in everywhere"

As an outsider can I make the following observation?

What the f***ing hell did he expect?

He picked Man City as the opposition to maximise gate receipts from fans eager for their team to win against their Manchester rivals.

If he wanted a match where the players would have been prancing around like pansies, he should have picked opposition who would have been less 'up for it'

Have to agree and ask what Alex Ferguson thought he was doing allowing this to go ahead four days befor M.U's first match. It was so obvious that City were going to try and kick lumps out of United.

Gives even less credence to the "we play too much football" crap that comes out of the mouths of Ferguson and other pampered like minded individuals.

Does seem like an odd decision, especially given that they would probably get a full house regardless of the opposition.

I thought they always wheeled Celtic down for Testimonials anyway?
