Reminds me of that classic moment from Roger Roger when the grieving widow asks for the theme from The Bodyguard to be played at the funeral. All together now..."I could be so good for you...."

LOL. A classic momemt in what must be the most under rated John Sullivan sit com ever. Personally I though the idea had more potential than even OFAH.

Tim of the 80's

In The Minder credits, they used to show the theme as written by Waterman/kenny. A bit sneaky, because the lyrics were i believe, written by his then wife (before rula Lenska)

If you want to I'll change the situation.
Right people, right time; just the wrong location.
I've got a good idea:
Just you keep me near.
I'll be so good for you.
I could be so good for you.
I'm gonna help ya!
Love you like you want me to.
I'll do anything for you...
I'll be so good for you.
I could be so good for you.
I'll do it like you want me to
Love you like you want me to
There ain't nothing I can't go through...
I'll be so good for you.
Sometime when you're feeling like a poor relation,
Call on me and I'll give you more than conversation.
Take 'em. Shakin' hands. A deal.
And move it brother. I'll make you heel.
I'll be so good for you.
I could be so good for you.
I'll be there right by your side.
Love you like you want me to
There ain't nothing you can hide from me.
I'll be so good for you.
I could be so good for you.
Yee-hoo! I'm your man!
Love you like you want me to.
I'll tell you nothing there ain't nothing, nothing, I can not do
I'll be so good for you.
Don't ask me no questions,
I'll tell you no lies.
Use my shoulder to rest on.
I will be right by your side. I will be your ears and eyes.
I could be so good for you.
I'm the one you really need.
Love you like you want me to
I can even help you breathe....
I'll be so good for you.
I could make the good times roll.
Viva roll!
Love you with my heart and soul.
That's right!
I'll be so good for you.
I could be so good for you.
There ain't nothing I can't do.
Love you like you want me to
You help me and I'll help you...
I 'll be so good for you.
I could make the good times roll.
Woo!
Love you with my heart and soul.
I'll be pleased!
I'll be so good for you.

Everyone knows that Dennis is the man! The original, the one and only! And Gerard Kenny, who co wrote the song.

Oh yes indeed, his marvelous rendition of "I'm Getting Married in the Morning" was a show stopper!
And as for Dele's shop, he's got so many people telling him they could do better, how his pick and mix was crap 'cos it was all mix and no pick, moaning at how he was only open 23 hr's a day, that I thought he should be left on his own to absorb all these expert tips for a while.
Dennis is a Fulham fan by the way. So was Terry McCann.

Not really a sitcom.
I think that Dennis Waterman must have it written into his contract that he gets to perform the theme tune to anything he's in. From very vague memory, he also sang the theme tune to that sitcom with Joan Sims and Sam Kelly, and I noticed that he also sings the theme song to that new series he's in with Amanda Redman, James Bolam and Alun Armstrong ("New Tricks" ?).

Agree with everything you say (especially that OFAH was originally a poor imitation of Minder - although it did improve a lot) except that I think Minder was more comedy drama than sitcom, but then I've got no idea what the definitions are so I could be talking bollox.
