Gotta be said, hats off to Theo for getting to grips with the thug problem at Millwall, albeit at the price of a 30% drop in gate.
The most encouraging thing however, is that their perverse anthem "no-one likes us we don't care" appears to be dying a death as well (as per this week-ends papers). I have always said that this simple phrase has always proven that scum are not only tolerated but positively encouraged by the Millwall fans that sing it or stick it in their car windows (hands up Dan the Sidcup man). Maybe just maybe the real decent MFC fans (of which there are many) are beginning to realise that violence is something to despise rather than be secretely proud of. Witness also the vast difference in behaviour at Selhurst this season compared with the (un-reported in the press) horrors of last.
It would be nice to be able to go & see us stuff them out of sight at the New Den without having to creep out early or putting on an overbite just to avoid having the crap beaten out of me!

nicebutdim, living up to your name are we?
The song No one likes us contains no swear words, no threats, it doesn't crow about anyone dying on a runway or deride anyother team.
Its simply a reaction to ignorant prigs like yourself and those in the media who know nothing of us and care even less.

I refuse to give credit to Millwall for anything! One has to have some principles in life.

You're half right when you ask if I'm living up to my name (no not that half!)
Calling me an ignorant prig however, suggests that you are living up to your club's reputation.
If you are really trying to suggest that the anthem does not encourage pride in the fear that your scum element create then you are living in cloud cuckoo land my friend. It is exactly this type of head in the sand (problem, what problem?!) mentality that has made it such an uphill struggle for Paphitis to deal with.

Still dont get it do you nice but very dim.
If it generates fear in you, its because you have lived a sheltered life.
If you have been to some grounds up North, not naming names, and heard the nice little ditty about being hit on the head by a brick, you would probably s••t one, if No one likes us sends a chill down your spine.
Oh but of course you support a team whose supporters don't sing.

Personally the Millwall fans singing that to me strikes as much fear into me as Liberty X threatening to quit pop music would.

The old joke asking what type of milwall fan has two brain cells, the answer being a pregnant one has come true, its just a shame that gazza m's mother seems to have retained both of them.

The best test of the 'new' Millwall will come in Division 1 next season in their games against West Ham.
Well if you are going to try and stop the fans singing their songs,we might as well not bother going to the games and watch it on telly.
For the majority of fans its 90 mins to forget about work, paying bills etc
Im a Millwall fan and I go to support my team and sing and shout during the game, I can't beleave anyone can take offence at our song No one likes us,do they want to see football played in front of a tennis crowd.

You might think you sing it that way now but that is not why it was originally conceived. Surely its roots are from a very neanderthal, 'herd like' battle cry sung to intimidate your opponents by reminding them (and yourselves) of your past violence.
Personally - you can sing what you like as long as we get 3 points off you - I don't care. It is only singing afterall.

Easy Tiger,
So you are setting yourself up as some sort of expert on the origins of this chant are you?
Do you really want to argue the toss with me on this. Btw I run the www.millwall-history.co.uk web site.

This was meant to be a positive thread about Millwall for a change, frankly I don't know now why I bothered!
Try reading properly then engaging brain before posting. The mere chanting of the song (if you can call it that) doesn't worry me at all and certainly does not send a chill down my spine, having a wooden seat hurled in a woman or child's face does, however.
I was simply making the point (obviously not simply enough for you) that it is come to be taken as statement of pride in your violent image and the sooner you kick it into touch the better, for the sake of the true fan. Don't give me all this media mis-representation bull again, I , like most Palace fans have witnessed your brand of "passionate support" too many times.

Lets analyse exactly what you did post originally then nice but dim, and see just how positive it was.
"Gotta be said, hats off to Theo for getting to grips with the thug problem at Millwall, albeit at the price of a 30% drop in gate."
Not positive at all about Millwall supporters is it.
"The most encouraging thing however, is that their perverse anthem "no-one likes us we don't care" appears to be dying a death as well (as per this week-ends papers)."
What weekend papers? The song was sung with Gusto again at the Weekend several times.
"I have always said that this simple phrase has always proven that scum are not only tolerated but positively encouraged by the Millwall fans that sing it or stick it in their car windows (hands up Dan the Sidcup man)."
Your Opinion, not the opinion of those who sing it. Yet with no trouble this season and the Millwall crowd still singing it, even at Ron Noades rustic stadium, it rather sinks your point.
"Maybe just maybe the real decent MFC fans (of which there are many) are beginning to realise that violence is something to despise rather than be secretely proud of."
Just your Opinion again.
"Witness also the vast difference in behaviour at Selhurst this season compared with the (un-reported in the press) horrors of last."
I must have missed the hundreds of dead and thousands of walking wounded!
"It would be nice to be able to go & see us stuff them out of sight at the New Den without having to creep out early or putting on an overbite just to avoid having the crap beaten out of me!"
Nope, half your crowd creep out early when getting stuffed. as for putting on an "Overbite" go around anywhere mouthing off and trouble will find you, even at Maze Hill!

Two can play at that game:
"Not positive at all about Millwall supporters is it."
Yes it is VERY, because it means that the 30% which presumably make up the thug minority are now staying away
"What weekend papers? The song was sung with Gusto again at the Weekend several times ."
Mail on Sunday (or Monday can't remember which) said it wasn't sung at all - maybe you're not loud enough then?
"Your Opinion, not the opinion of those who sing it. Yet with no trouble this season and the Millwall crowd still singing it, even at Ron Noades rustic stadium, it rather sinks your point."
Precisely the point •••• for brains, no trouble because the thugs are staying away. BTW I thought we easily outsung you at SP this season.
"Just your Opinion again"
what, that there are any real decent MFC fans?!
"I must have missed the hundreds of dead and thousands of walking wounded!"
Don't be so pathetic, this is just offensive to all those in the Holmesdale Road end who were struck by missiles and those whose cars were attacked etc, etc, etc (see previous threads for more details). But then I guess this never really happened did it?!
"Nope, half your crowd creep out early when getting stuffed. as for putting on an "Overbite" go around anywhere mouthing off and trouble will find you, even at Maze Hill!"
Actually I was thinking of the Casey Keller game, I left 10 seconds before the whistle after we were 4-1 up and I was pissing myself laughing despite 30 or so "gentlemen" giving me the slit throat sign. Funny I also seem to remember about half your lot trying to leave early at SP this season (despite only being 1 down) only to find that they were not allowed out!! BTW is the peculiar reference to Maze Hill a veiled threat as I live near there? - reverting to type eh GazzaM?

'tis a shame that your obnoxious and abusive attitude in response to an eloquent observation would lead us all to think that millwall-history.co.uk is all about rampaging neanderthals.
You certainly do a good job for promoting Millwall. Needless to say after reading your diatribe's I'll give your site a wide berth.

Brett,
I find Nice but dim and Easy Tigers postings Obnoxious and abusive.
Hell, I even winkled it out of Nice but Dim that the percise meaning of his original post was to label a third of our fans thugs!
Its just your prejudice, that because I disagree with your Opinion on Millwall, I must be a thug. Nice but dims original post is certainly not an eloquent observation, rather a crass little theory of his. If you think my web site is all about rampaging neanderthals, you must have the same distorted sensibilty of Mary Whitehouse!

We've said nothing about YOUR opinion of Millwall, merely your posts and the abusive nature.
Whilst the original was maybe an incie wincie bit patronising, tim hasnt resorted to name calling like yourself, no matter how inoffensive and juvenile it is.

Nice But Dim,
"Not positive at all about Millwall supporters is it." Yes it is VERY, because it means that the 30% which presumably make up the thug minority are now staying away
So I winkled out the meaning of your post. You put Millwall's drop in crowd down to the fact that nearly 1/3rd of the crowd are thugs. Thats certainly not a postive spin on Millwall whatever pretty little bow you warp around it!
"What weekend papers? The song was sung with Gusto again at the Weekend several times ." Mail on Sunday (or Monday can't remember which) said it wasn't sung at all - maybe you're not loud enough then?
What makes you think they were even at the game (and has been know to happen)! Yes it was sung. BTW The Daily Mail! For Sports coverage! I even double check with a calender when I read the date in that paper!
"Your Opinion, not the opinion of those who sing it. Yet with no trouble this season and the Millwall crowd still singing it, even at Ron Noades rustic stadium, it rather sinks your point." Precisely the point •••• for brains, no trouble because the thugs are staying away. BTW I thought we easily outsung you at SP this season.
Nope your point was that singing this song is the athem for the thugs, in fact its not as proved by singing it week in week out this season without any trouble at all.
"Just your Opinion again" what, that there are any real decent MFC fans?!
Nope, your rather patronising use of the word begining in "are beginning to realise that violence is something to despise rather than be secretely proud of"
"Nope, half your crowd creep out early when getting stuffed. as for putting on an "Overbite" go around anywhere mouthing off and trouble will find you, even at Maze Hill!" BTW is the peculiar reference to Maze Hill a veiled threat as I live near there? - reverting to type eh GazzaM?
HA HA HA parnoid or what, nope a reference to the Maze Hill Mob who following the Anoraks and had an off with Soton!

Gazza , judging by the aggressive tone of your postings it seems I have touched a raw nerve here - truth hurts does it?!
For chrissakes lighten up a little willya and have the semi intelligence to spot the tongue in cheek comments! Look for clues like use of the word presumably, exclamation marks etc.
I repeat that the original intention was to give some credit to something positive happening at Millwall Football Club (at last!)
Sorry I've never heard of the Maze Hill mob, but then again I'm not secretely turned on by macho posturing and intimidation. Paranoid is one thing I definitley aint, it's just a coincidence that you mentioned Maze Hill when I live 5 minutes walk away!
Now go away and dream of the rucks you're going to have next season with West Ham!

I must say i'm somewhat confused by the reaction of some of the Millwall fans to what was actually a post giving some credit to those in charge at the New Den.
The fact is you have had a 30% drop in gates since the introduction of the membership scheme. That in it's self does imply that a considerable number of these missing supporters are indeed 'undesirables'. Any true Millwall fan would join such a scheme as they would not wish to miss a game
Palace have a virtual membership scheme in that we have 10,000 season ticket holders. 4000 Golden Eagle members and most of the rest are Palace club members.
Our recent match with the scouse was a sell out and tickets were ONLY on sale to members and guests.
If any other team in the country introduced a members only scheme I don't think they would have had such a drop in attendances do you?
Some of the reasons for the missing supporters maybe as follows.
Those missing may not wish to have their details and pictures stored on computer.....Hmmmm.
They can see no reason to join as a number of potential 'rival supporters' have been banned from visiting the New Den meaning that there is only football as entertainment.
Or they may not be able to get membership due to previous convictions.
This action is clearly costing Millwall considerable sums of Money (look at the gate last night against Southampton). However, if it succeeds in cutting off a generation of holligans then all well and good.
As for West Ham next year. Do you really think they either set of fans will be allowed to visit either ground?
I think not.
I hope that Millwall gradually improve their attendances and that the undisirable element does stay away.
:p

No not an expert. - But I can't see how that song started its life as "...... a reaction to ignorant prigs like yourself and those in the media who know nothing of us and care even less......". That must have come later.
As for your website I don't have time to check it out now - but will at work when I have more spare time.;) .And will let you know if humble pie is the order of the day or otherwise.

I've no problem with Millwall fans from the surrounding area who support their team.
What gets my goat is these silly little boys in Croydon wandering around in Millwall shirts trying to attach themselves to the brand and the 'image'.
You know who you are.
You silly little boys.
