Played really well, but as usual a leaky defence cost me the game. Still, I missed a ridiculously easy one-on-one with the scores at 0-0 and then saw Burgos pull off an amazing point blank save that would have levelled the game midway through the second half. Stopped the rot, but should have taken all three points - although there were some scares defensively. Dennis Bergkamp was one-one-one with five minutes to go and hit the post - not a lucky run for me at the moment.

Titanic battle, and by god was I unlucky. Dominated the first half before my goalie pushed a weak shot from Totti onto the post and it trickled in... :veryangry . Kept battling however and John Hartson turned and struck the equaliser bang on half time, but for ten minutes after the break I went to sleep and they notched two quick goals. After that went to 3-4-3 and Giggs fired shot after shot at Buffon, but some splendid saves kept me at bay. 15 shots, 4 corners, not a bad showing at all - deserved a point IMHO.

Result of he season for me so far:

Wales 4 (Hartson 4, 14, 59, Bellemy 44)
Italy 1 (Del Piero 51)

John Hartson is brilliant. Scored two scissor kicks in the first 15 minutes (I saved one cos its was a great move). Balmay made it 3 before half time, Del Piero scored a free kick just after half time but Hartson completeed his hat-trick with 30 mintes to go. This game had everything, loads of fouls, a goal line clearence by Dalet with 10 minutes left. Excellent. :lux:

Now that my championship challenge is over, after a poor run of results, I can begin to play under less pressure and aim to consolidate my Champions League position.

I started the day in 4th :eek: behind The Omen :eek: but a couple of wins would put me back in 3rd.

Game 1

Arsenal 2-1 Manchester United

Losing 1-0 at half time, an appalling error from Big Dave, failing to keep out Van Nistelrooys weak shot, Arsenal begin the 2nd half the stronger. On 55 minutes Robert Pires scores a truly magical goal, recieving the ball from Ashley Cole, his turn left Blanc on his arse and then he fired past Fabien Barthez. Dennis Bergkamp was immediately replaced by Sylvain Wiltord to add a cutting edge to the Arsenal attack and the substitution paid immediate dividends with Wiltord rounding Barthez to score the winner having been put through by a one-two with Pires.

Game 2

Wales 2-1 Italy

Wales were all over Italy from the first minute untill the last. Wales almost took the lead, John Hartson's sliding volley from a Ryan Giggs cross was brilliantly saved by Gigi Buffon. Italy then took the lead on 10 minutes against the run of play, their tactics of hoofing the ball up to Vieri pay off as his knock down is volleyed in by Del Piero. Wales respond immeidately with John Robinson breaking through with the ball from midfield and cooly slotting past Buffon. After that Wales pile on the pressure, Robinson, Davies and Hartson causing the most problems. Wales nearly throw it all away on 85 minutes as Melville tries to shepherd the ball out of play but Del Piero nicks it off him and his cross is headed against the bar by Vieri. Wales then respond, as John Robinson holds off the challenge of Di Livio in his own box, breaks down the right wing, commits Maldini, goes to the byline before cutting it back for Davies to smash home the winner from six yards out.

Zonin back in town.

One of my best games. Should have won by more as I absolutely destroyed them in the first half. Willems who started ahead of an out of sorts Power was a revelation in central midfield. Then in the second half Italy turned up the pressure and scored on 54 with Del Piero and then 78 with Vieri. They then had a goal disallowed for a very tight offside. I was lucky to get a draw in the end. Still I am now above Ben

My understanding is that you need a win by more then 2 goals to go through. It is not about aggregates. A draw is not possible in this scenario, you either go through (3 points) or, you don't (0 points).

Ben will be incharge of the league tables as he did such a great job last time(ok ben?) and I will do my best as always to post interesting games, although suggestions always welcome.

Yes there will be two divisions, the Prem & Div 1. The top five from last season will start in the Prem and the rest in Div 1. After 10 games the top player from Div 1 will go into the Prem and vice versa.

It does seem a little like there's no point having two divisions - is there? (Not being awkward, it's more a logistical question as there doesn't seem any difference between the two?)

When a team gets promoted, they are going to go straight to the top of the Prem; when one gets relegated they're likely to go straight to the bottom.

How about having shorter seasons instead, say 12 games, with the Premiership playing all games on 5 star, division one on four star. Then there really will be a difference in class, and it will actually make a difference what division you are in?

No - say a team is top of Div One with max points, they will get promoted and instantly be top of the league - whereas a team with 0 points and relegated from the Prem will go straight to the bottom of Div One...
