Any other BBSers going this year? Just got my weekend ticket - they went on sale about 2 1/2 hours ago, and it seems they've already sold around 22,000 for Reading alone. Looks like it will be another quick seller, so get in quick if you're planning on going.
The official site is locked at the moment, but you can buy them for the same price at eFestivals.co.uk (http://www.efestivals.co.uk)

Line up is quality as ever;
Linkin Park, Blink 182, Blur, The White Stripes, Metallica and System of a Down all headlining.
Also playing is Beck, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Doves, Flaming Lips, Hundred Reasons, Placebo :D , The Datsuns, The Music, The Polyphonic Spree, The Streets, Yeah Yeah Yeahs etc, etc, etc

Blinding. :p

i got my ticket earlier this year in the presale, but im very disappointed with the lineup compaired to last year.

Only really looking forward to Beck, Cooper Temple Clause, Doves, and Placebo, but hopefully it will improve.

I posted this in the gigs thread, and as I said there, I'm very unenthusiastic about the line-up, of all the band announced I'd only go and see Doves, and maybe Blink 182 at a push, at their own gig. I might try and see if I can get some V Festival tickets for Stafford, as Chelmsford appears to have sold out, irritatingly.

Pretty poor line-up in my opinion, only the Doves appeal to me & Blur.
I'll stick to V & Glastonbury for me.............

Blimey - each to their own and all that, but you lot are pretty hard to please!
Having 100 Reasons, Placebo, The Datsuns, Polyphonic Spree, Blur and The White Stripes all on the same bill is good enough for me. I'd agree there's a few missing from there that I'd like to see, but there's more to be announced yet...

Twyford Bee

Well I don't like any of those bands you just said, I own one album each by Blur and The White Stripes but I'm not overly keen on either really. I guess Blur might be OK.

I liked the last 2 years line-ups, so I suppose I was probably due one I didn't like.

Using the same crtieria as I said above, bands that I like enough to go to their own gig, there were 6 such bands on one day at V last year, and I can only see 2 amongst all those bands above! Maybe more will be announced that I like later.

Oh well, there's about a million such bands at Glastonbury this year (REM, Radiohead, Doves, Moby, Eels, Sigur Ros, Suede, David Gray, Coldplay possibly??????).

Never go just for the bands anyway, the camping and meeting new people is the best part.

That is fun, but I've done that for the last 2 years and so since I only live 5 miles away, I knew I would probably day-trip it this time if I went at all.

I will be there with the Gland family. I always work out how many bands I would gladly pay £10 to see. Once it gets to £100, I'm in. This year I already have the White Stripes, The Music, The Datsuns, The Polyphonic Spree, Metallica, Flaming Lips and System Of A Down. Add the real possibility of The Vines, The Thrills, Interpol, Cave-In, or Hell Is For Heroes and I think we have a result. The thought of being deliriously pissed listening to any of the above has started me drooling.

My only concern is where the Music will be playing. I suspect they will be in a tent as opposed to the main stage.as their lighting effects were awesome at Brixton and will be missed.

As I am a man who revels in "creature comforts" I have booked to stay at the Madjeski Hotel. I am hoping that Palace are playing there on the Monday to seal a perfect weekend.

If what the topic originator says is true, I don't think there will be. They get faster and faster every year, before 2000 I don't think the weekend tickets had even sold out by the day the festival starts, last year they didn't take very long at all, and given what happened with Glastonbury, I don't think anyone's going to hang around.

You got a credit card you can use??

My mate says the official hotline has already run out of weekend tickets.

Ticketmaster online still have some, if you want to go, I would get a ticket NOW, even if you have to beg someone for a credit card or get your overdraft extended!

As I said above, it gets faster and faster every year, and with Glastobury selling out in a day, I don't think anyone is going to be relaxed about it this time. Personally I wouldn't take the risk, I'm now feeling the brunt of such a mistake as I try to get 2 tickets for V2003 at Chelmsford even though all the camping tickts have sold out and I need 2 of them!

Line up's shaping up a bit... Primal Scream now confirmed for the Sunday. Imagine it - a nice sunny day, a can of beer in your hand, and the Primals caning out Come Together. Blinding! :D

Joining Linkin Park and Blink 182 on the Main Stage (Reading - Friday, Leeds - Saturday) are Placebo and The Datsuns. The Radio 1 Stage has The Polyphonic Spree, Elbow, Interpol and Electric Six.

Alongside Blur and the White Stripes (Reading - Saturday, Leeds - Sunday) are Beck, Doves, The Streets and The Libertines. AFI play last on the Radio 1 Stage, with Hundred Reasons, The Cooper Temple Clause and The Mars Volta.

And with Metallica and System of a Down (Reading - Sunday, Leeds - Friday) are Sum 41, Primal Scream, Courtney Love and Good Charlotte, while The Music, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Hot Hot Heat are on the Radio 1 Stage.

There's still loads of bands to be added for these two stages, plus announcements for the Carling, Dance and Concrete Jungle Stages.

Did you get a year's worth of booze too? If so, when's the party?

I've just sorted out my timetable to see my faves although I will probably pass out with too much alcohol abuse at some stage. I only have one bad clash and that was SOAD/Grandaddy/Hope Of The States. I sorted it by grabbing tickets to the Grandaddy and Hope Of The States tours so I can see SOAD now.

What did people think. I had an excellent time topped by Palace going to no 1.

I was going to do a bit of a write up but I am too knackered at the moment and think it will be more productive to do it tomorrow in the company's time. Well they are kicking me out soon as the greedy gits at the top need to beat the record profits again next year by getting rid of us and giving more jobs to Asia, so I don't give a feck!. :p

I'll agree with Charltonhater - Primal Scream were sh*t, although I've always thought they were overrated Rolling Stones wannabees anyway.

Went on Saturday and Sunday but, as always, didn't get to see as many bands as I would have liked. One nobody has mentioned yet, though, is British Sea Power. They headlined the Carling Stage on Sunday night and were excellent. I don't think I've seen a band so totally up for in in a long, long time. May they progress to bigger and better things, despite being a bunch of scousers (I think).

In answer to 'Al's Rose Tinted Specs', I was really looking forward to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, despite not having heard them before, but wasn't that impressed.

Maybe it was just that the tent was really packed and I couldn't get anywhere near the front, but the screamy vocals didn't really do it for me. I ended up leaving half way through to check out Manitoba on the Carling stage. Canadian art-school wiergos they may be, but much enjoyable, none the less.

My sister went for all 3 days, I didn't bother this year, I only wanted to see Doves (would appreciate review/reaction from anyone who did see them). She saw The Music on the Sunday night and, as with me at Glastonbury, thought they were an excellent live band, despite not really liking them before.

Good Charlotte got bottled apparently but did last out the entire set. My mate told me he thought Blur weren't that good.

Not as good as last year, but still great.

Best 3 Bands: Cooper Temple Clause, Interpol, Grandaddy
Most disappointing bands: Blur, Primal Scream (except Swastika Eyes), Death In Vegas
Best Songs: Electric Six - Gay Bar, Primal Scream - Swastika Eyes, Grandaddy - AM 180

Sound problems all the time on the main stage, especially noticable during Staind (had to play an acoustic set) and The Darkness, so it was quite hard for bands to play well on it. Hopefully next year will be better organised with less bands pulling out and no stupid line up orders (why were the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and BRMC so high, whilst Grandaddy and Electric 6 so low????

Oh and the Spree are great! Decided to see Evan Dando (i.e. The Lemonheads) instead though.

The Doctor.

I didn't like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs anyway, but finding myself unable to walk and near the Radio One stage on Sunday night, I was forced to endure 10 minutes or so of their nasty noise. Luckily I made it to the Carling Stage in time for those odd British Sea Power chaps by whom I only knew one or two songs but really liked (great foliage by the way. :) Twyford, go download Carrion).

My highpoints were Serafin, Finch, AFI, Cave In, Longview, Electric Six, Ladytron, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and, as ever, Doves. They did about 45 minutes which seemed to go by in a quarter of the time. I really had to check my watch. Shame they weren't higher up the bill, perhaps instead of bloody Beck or something. Oh, and Palace going top :D and it being my birthday on the Friday.

Lowpoints: not getting in early enough on the first day to see InMe, and being in such a state after Electric Six that I collapsed near the Main Stage and saw Blink-182 instead of Interpol :( disaster! I'd like to thank the nice South African lady who collapsed with me though :)

Favorites (only went to first 2 days):

1. Linkin Park
2. Placebo
3. Blink-182
4. InMe
5. Cave In
6. Alien Ant Farm
7. Bowling for Soup
8. Movielife
9. Darkness
10. Finch

Which nutter went to see Ataris? I tried to get into the tent but couldn't, must have been so packed.

Twyford: Agree about Polyphonic Spree, can't see what all the fuss is about. And White Stripes are pants apart from 7 nation army. Also, Yeah Yeah Yeahs have no talent whatsoever.

Agree about the order 2can. Couldn't believe that Electric Six were up against Placebo, would have loved to see them but couldn't compete with Placebo. Went back to my tent for BRMC, couldn't be bothered with them.

I missed the start of InMe, thought they put the start on too early for a first day. At least I heard Underdose though, which is fantastic!

Though Beck's set was superb - did a medley of chart songs featuring Crazy in Love, tATu and "It's getting hot in here - so take off all your socks". New stuff sounded good too.

I was really impressed with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Wandered over after seeing Squarepusher & thought the atmosphere was electric. The tent was full of lary women as well -Quality!:p

Lamb were pretty incredible as well i thought and I really enjoyed Evan Dando's set. I don't think the primals are really a festival band - they always get pissed off that not enough people are dancing and spend half the set having a go at the audience.

Blur were shit without Graham. That was about the sixth time I've seen them and the only gig worse than that was in Wembley arena circa The Great Escape.

I have to own up to one thing. I was working in the beer tents again and on the saturday night i was in the guest bar. I served Junior Senior and did not put anything lethal in their drink. I can only humbly apologize. History will Judge me:(

Reading festival was fantastic, but as brlliant as it was winning the PS2 and the 2 VIP Tickets, i returned to some sad news that my cat died which sorta mad the weekend a little less special :(

Backstage was brilliant though, got pics with so many stars including Mark Lamarr, The Darkness, Hot Hot Heat, Junior Senior, The Cooper Temple Clause, Alien Ant Farm etc.

Jack Osbourne was there with this massive camper van all the time and seemed to be recording for MTV a program with Zane. The security was pretty strict however with Jack.

The linkin park rapper (don't know his name) was a bit of a joke, when he was walking around with 2 massive security guards in the guest area quite a few people were laughing to what i saw, considering no other band really had security like that except for Jack Osbourne which was a bit different, it seemed he over rates himself.

Loads of stars seemed to being going around like that Edith Bowman (who apparently i stole her chair) and Vernon Kay, Dermot Leary or somethin but still the best bit is out in the mosh pit by the stages, except for the Datsuns mosh, where i got crushed and had my shoe stolen when crowdsurfin.

Top weekend though :D

It was good wasn't it?

You may remember that my son won the compy to meet Linkin Park in the NME - well he was very disappointed. He had been cacking himself about what to say as it said that he would be hanging out with them. However, all it turned out to be was a special queue of fan club members getting autographs. He said how crazy the security was and how everyone was told that they could have one item autographed only and NO photos.

Pretty poor really - by coincidence, we won a compy to see their first ever UK gig at Kings College and chatted to them for ages after the show. They seemed to be really nice guys at the time. I guess they are too big for their boots now - shame!

The Jack Osbourne Reading Diary was on MTV last night and was mildy amusing. There are highlights everyday this week at 8:00 (unless it's one show repeated 5 times!)

Scuzz hasd a Reading/Leeds special which was amusing as a number of the bands like the Used were playing in the dark even though they were scheduled to be in the afternoon. Either there is a major time difference between London and Leeds or they cheated on the footage. I tend to go for the first explanation as there are a number of northerners that still think that Leeds are a good football team!:p
