The CPFC-BBS membership stands at 1290.
New members coming up rapidly while well know names seem to have vanished (I'll very much doubt it).

Taken into consideration that multiple membership is not permitted this seems to be a rather strange phenomenon.

I'd rather prefer a membership list containing of active members.

Therefore I'd like to invite all you dead bodies to come alive for just one final message to Dave in order to get a decent burial.

Vote for summer-clearance.

Dave, Why not just do a query on the date of member's last posts and then deleting all the members that haven't posted for over 6 months.

Either that or generating an e-mail to all members, with a URL that they can click on to confirm their membership. I've seen it done before on bulletin boards.

Whats wrong with members who register but rarely, if ever, post? Not all members necessarily want to actively participate in the debates but they do want to be kept informed.

There's nothing wrong with it, but it can cause problems when the membership can outgrow the size of the server it is running on, or the company owning the server demand more cash because of the extra members.

I mean, cos im bored, ive just counted up the fact that out of 166 members with the Ids beginning with an A or B, only 54 of them have over 10 posts. A lot have 0.

Averaging that out, only 428 of the members of the bbs have over 10 posts. That seems a bit ridiculous that nearly 900 people have posted less than 10 times.

Fair enough about staying informed, but you don't HAVE to be registered to read the pages.

Bud,
the Members database is not really that large- what is large is the 20k of webpages on this site

anyway- the server price increases by bandwidth (visitors) rather than physical storage

Thanks for your concern though
