Dave,
It appears that a new game has started on the General Discussion thread - it's called "how many new topics that are the same as the old topics can be started in one day".
There are a lot of new users who appear to be starting a new thread every time they want a question answered. What's even worse is that none of them are new questions.
I guess that this bugs you even more than it bugs me - you can't force people to read the instructions before posting I suppose but some sort of general announcement would not go amiss.
Keep up the sterling work matey.
Gooders.
OK Gooders, I’m relatively new to the BBS and do try not to repeat old threads, but if you click on all threads, it actually doesn’t go back that far (unless I’m doing something wrong?)

What's making it worse at the moment is too many people posting unfunny/pointless comments making them lengthy and time consuming to read. If you are looking for answers you've got to go through pages of crap. I suppose people are hoping to get an answer by starting a new thread.

Tra,
I think what Gooders means is there are people creating new threads on questions that are already answered in the thread \ question before. Then everyone starts to repost the same old stuff again and again.
Think it might have to be up to Dave, James etc (And us). to make sure that the threads say that the post is already answered and where, then get it closed down.

Looking down the thread started list today, it looks like a lot more threads were started by relatively few old custodians of the BBS rather than by the many other posters. Mmaybe they should read the rules!

I'm not having a go at anyone in particular people but a quick scan through the most recent threads (i.e the last 2 or 3 days) reveals the following:
Jerry Lim and Selhurst Park
If I missed this many deadlines
All quiet on the Dean Austin front
Definite decision this week
Do they realise?
It's down to us
Update please
What is going on and why?
Will you go to Gillingham?
Fixtures for next season
Fixtures
The new fixture lists
Do the administrators have the weekend off?
I wonder what would have happened if?
Deadline extended to June 30th
Anti-Gills protest
Where's home?
Deadline extended
Lim deal to be rubber-stamped today
Lim to sign this afternoon
What has happened?
Call me naive if you like
Explanation
Clock still ticking
Simon Jordan and Jerry Lim
Ron Noades and the Freehold
...and then I got bored (Al from Bromley will tell me to get a life in a minute).
All of these threads are either connected to each other, or duplicates, or simply questions that could be answered by reading other threads.
Like I said, I don't want to have a go but I'm getting a bit bored with trying to go through them all to see if there's anything new about, that's all.

I blame the moderators, you just can't get the staff these days! http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/wink.gif

Sorry - missed this. Was it aimed at me?
I'd love to help out Dave but a) I'm never impartial or unemotional and b) I have to go away a lot with my work so wouldn't be very reliable I'm afraid.
Things seem to have improved during the past few days by the way.
Id love to be a moderator, but Im absolutely useless. Also I get very power mad, and by the end of the week everyone will be goose stepping and saluting me

I'd like to nominate "James" for my first "moderator of the month" award, in recognition of the swift closing down of yet another thread started today asking "is anything happening?"
In support of this nomination, I would also commend the diplomatic and ultra-polite way in which he responded when asked why the thread had been closed.
In support of my own stance about not becoming a moderator I would offer the reply that Mr Verrinder would have received from me...
LOOK, you ******* arsehole, there are 51 threads active here ON THIS BLOODY BOARD that will tell you what is going on. READ the ******* things!
No offence.
