After reading the Adder report, and the fact that Jordan put 3 bids in for the talented youngster, I was wondering how much we aactually bid for him? Anyone have any ideas? SS?
I reckon the third bid must have been in the region of 1-2M, so they must be really keen on keeping him. Plus the fact that they haven't replaced Winterburn means that he is the Arsenal's second choice left back now.
I wonder if Jordan might go one better and put in a final bid, after all he has admitted that he is going to have to spend more money on players, than he at first thought!??

I'm not sure it matters how much we offer. I thought one of the things which kept being re-iterated last season was that Cole wasn't for sale at any price.

He's supposed to be definitely getting some 1st team action this season so I'm sure you're right - they wouldn't sell him for any price.
Well, maybe 20 million...

I think it's gone beyond what we have or haven't bid now. Given that there's only Silvinho in front of him now plus the fact that another two senior left-sided players may be leaving them shortly (Petit and Overmaars) I really don't think the Arse will sell him.
And even if they did - his performances for us didn't only catch our eyes - there will be plenty of Premier League teams in for him if and when Arsenal decide to sell.

I think that now Arsenal's Marc Overmars and Emmanuel Petit are to join Barcelona for a combined fee of £30million, we have lost the chance of Cole forever.

Yes you could be right, but Jordan must have had some sort of determination to keep trying because he made 3 bids. Who know's maybe he will make a 4th? Every player has his price, and Cole isn't worth more than 4M?
I think our chances of getting Cole depend largely on what Arsenal do now that they've sold Overmars and Petit. With £30 million burning a hole in their pockets they don't need whatever money Palace are offering, but let's hope they spend some of it on a left back so that with might get him.
BIG LETTER!

I'm surprised we bothered because we have never had a cat in hell's chance. Still, nothing ventured I guess.
You've all so far mentioned Arsenal's interest in keeping Cole, but another issue is that I can't see the player himself giving up the chance of a run in a team with a real chance of honours.
