Dave, has the code code for the home page changed over the last few days? At home (Mac IE 5.0) it has the latest topics jammed into a small column on the left, then a load of space with half of the next section (polls, links, etc.) taking up the rest of the page. That means no news stories links being shown http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/frown.gif It seems alright at work (NT IE 5.5) but nowt has changed at home recently so I can't work it out.

MAW:

Nope it hasn't changed however because all of the content on the homepage is dynamically generated so there may be a slight problem- letme have a look and report back

If you think that's different - take a look at it using the Opera browser (a nice little fast alternative to IE and Netscape)

Oh and Alan make sure you have the latest version of Opera as there are some nasty exploits with it.

NERD MODE ONLINE

Although IE 5 Mac is better than IE 5 Win (but not IE 5.5 Win), its not compatible - good one Microsoft! Use Netscape instead (not 6).

NERD MODE OFFLINE

Dave - I think I'm running the latest - I'll check that later. Use it occasionally for some things - in many ways it is better than the other two.

James - I have not owned an anorak since school, and surely even you have heard of Pavorotti ? http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/wink.gif

2can, having used both the latest versions of IE on both platforms I can definitely say the Mac version is the superior one. Apart from just looking better thanks to the Aqau-fied appearance the methods for changing preferences and organising Favourites are much more logical. Apart from the front page of this site I've never had a problem with anything being displayed using the Mac version.

I'm certainly not a fan of Microsoft. Having worked with their products for over a decade I loathe them on technical, business and marketing issues. The last decent product they built for the PC was version 7 of their C compiler (1994!). However, I have paid for some of their Mac products because Microsoft finally worked out that people in that segment of the market will pay to use good software, unlike other market areas where they are forced to pay for rubbish because there is no other option. Since they started treating the Mac market as deserving of their attention rather than as a dumping ground for third-rate ports of Windows programs Microsoft have started gaining significant revenues and critical acclaim from it. While they continue doing that I'll continue to use their products and avoid the dog's breakfast that is Netscape.
