Has been reported on ITN news that tomorrow may well be Sven's last game in charge of England. When asked to comment at the press conference on his job he flatly refused.Hope he stays.

No doubt it would please the xenophobes.Pray God he will not end up at Chelsea. All there signings suggest he will.

I think this is being whipped up by the media, they cant wait until he does leave and we get another loser in that they can victismise. What he said today was he had not changed his mind since last week. Now depending on your point of view , I read that to mean I am staying and all of this weeks troubles have not swayed me at all. If you are newsman that means I am refusing to talk about it.Even if he does want to leave is he really going to tell us at a press conferance the day before such a big game???

Seems a very strange decision seeing as we're very likely to qualify. Why not wait until after the summer?

Swap him for Ranieri. At least he isn't a miserable sod.

Ranieri is a joker, always a good laugh at press conferences (probably due to his quality of english, but still funny)

to be fair, i wouldn't blame him. The british media is soooooooo bad to the national team coach, and he apparently got offered something in the region of £34 million over 4 years to go to chelski:eek:

How could they possibly sack Ranieri at the moment when they are 1 point off top position? His signings have been pretty good too - since he got the blank cheques anyway.

Good point. Abramovich is utterly misguided if he thinks flagrantly undermining his current manager whilst tapping (probably illegally) another manager under contract is a smart move. Especially so as the several Chelsea fans I know (and they do actually hold season tickets :hmph: ) are quite happy with Ranieri and don't want Eriksson.

I also like Ranieri. Fun to watch and listen to, and, hatred of all things Chelsea to one side for one moment, doing a good job. I also happen to think Eriksson is doing too bad either given the English tradition for hopelessly underperforming and the abject record of his predecessors Hoddle and Keegan.

Anyway who on earth would replace Eriksson were he to resign? No obvious candidate comes to my mind, certainly not an "English" manager at any rate.

Did you mean 'Eriksson isn't doing too bad'?

I for one can't stand (or understand) the constant merry-go-round that is the England manager's job. We haven't won anything for almost 40 years - wonder why?

Ben you mean he IS doing badly? Surely you've not succumb to the media-led frenzy that has us believe England should thrash every team bar none out of sight?

Sven has got the most out of a very average bunch of players and we thank him for it. When was the last time we got 9 wins on the bounce or whatever it is, no matter who the opposition was? The press will hound out the next manager whoever he is, look at Bobby Robson now!!(Reputations count for nothing). I too hope he stays as the next manager could not possibly do any better with the same players.

No, I think the opposite. Re-read your post again - I think you've made a typo in the second sentence of the second paragraph. I wasn't sure what you meant to start with.

One of the reasons I've given up reading newspapers is the utter hype-filled shite they tend to print about most things, not just the footie.

He'll be off to Chelski if he has an excuse. We're not idiots, we've seen the pictures of him meeting Roman and have noticed the players he has signed, sorry, recommended.

Went to Chelski v Villa the other weekend. Chant went around the ground in the 2nd half of "We don't want Eriksson"

Interesting because I have a strong feeling he'll end up there one way or another.

As for the England team, he's done OK. Just wish he'd play 3-5-2 rather than keeping to find a left midfielder.

There's dozens of managers capable of adequately coaching a multi-million pound team with a blank chequebook, why do they have to go after our national manager? Same goes for Man U, allegedly, before Fergie decided to stay.

Despite his record, I don't find Sven particularly inspiring. I think his handling of our demise at the hands of the Brazilians was lukewarm to say the least and indicative of this.

When I was younger I always had confidence that England would do well and was surprised when they got beat. Now it's the other way round. The influx of foreign players, whilst enriching the entertainment of the Premier League has been to the detriment of the national game.

Sven epitomises where we have gone wrong. It's sad to think that I can't put forward an English name to succeed him if/when he goes.
