Me too. But then again I would support anyone playing against Celtic as well. The notion of clubs being based around religious affiliation, in terms of support, team or administration, in this day and age is as ridiculous to me as the idea that a club could be based around ethnic exclusiveness.

Mihajlovic (Lazio) is a bit of a "loose cannon".
Disgrace to the game more like.
Spitting incident, two yellows in 2 minutes and a big dummy spit on the touchline, entertaining stuff. What a ****.

Just seen the miss of the century.
Sasa Ilic (Partizan Belgrade) against Real Madrid
Wide open goal from six yards out and somehow pushed it wide.
Still 0-0

Chelsea - Rangers - Linfield

The Blues Brothers.

Maybe you should have all hoped for a 0-0 or something.

Unsurprised to see so many obviously buy into the Republican media spin.

Rangers = Evil bigots
Celtic = Loveable rogues.

Yeah right. :rolleyes:

Craig Moore playing for Rangers is enough reason for Palace fans to have been backing them against ManU. Not that it would have done much good!

Unsurprised to see so many obviously buy into the Republican media spin.

Maybe you should unsubscribe to the IRA newsletter. From where this so-called Republican spin is emanating from, I do not know, Rangers are followed by millions more in this country than the team in green, simply because of the Protestant denomination of their club, and I don't see them trying to sever their ties with it either. True, neither club stands to gain from an end to the bigoted roots of their supporters, but the market for Rangers fans who can afford and are willing to buy their merchandise is much bigger than that of Celtics. Not so good for Mrs Strathclyde and the rest of my in-laws.

The best reult from Old Trafford from last night, would of if a large bomb exploded and killed both of the teams, as I can not stand either team.

Err no,

Chels, Rangers & Linfield have a rather alarming elements in their fan bases to compare them to messrs Ackroyd & Belushi is spurious (IMHO)

Besides
Rangers not doing at all well. Celtic second in their group.

Pray tell me which newspapers (in either UK or Ireland) are Republican in their agenda?

Believe me, I don't read IRA newsletters!

Latest figures on the number of supporters of British teams in the UK and Ireland showed Man Utd first, followed by Celtic.

Celtic also sold more shirts than Rangers last year so I don't know where you got the merchandising bit from. You can always apply for a crisis loan on a giro remember (as shown so well by Seville).

I'd argue both clubs do and have profitted from their traditional and historical roots (they're not bigoted roots, although Celtic were formed by priests for Catholic Irish immigrants, although it can be argued this was due to racism at the time).

As for my comment on Republican spin (towards JohnA as well), the major newspapers in Scotland are run by Catholics. The majority of football writers are also Catholic. (As is Glasgow city council, hence green, white and gold buses). Rangers are regularly critisised for their Protestant roots and protestant culture in general is regularly attacked. Eg the use of 'hate marches' instead of Orange marches (I'm not arguing about this here, read 'the faithful tribe' by Ruth Dudley Edwards for more on this). Sinn Fein/P.I.R.A. have a far superior media spin campaign than the loyalist paramilitaries (who have never bothered and are suffering as a result) and this is reflected in the media.

I have neither the time nor knowledge to argue about the Scottish (in particular) media here. I'd suggest going to followfollow the Rangers fan site, where these attacks on Rangers and Protestant culture are logged, discussed and complaints to the various media outlets regularly made (seeing as the club itself won't support its fans)

Discredited by one community, heralded by another.

I respect that you and other Celtic minded people have different opinions to me. Thing is, neither side will be swayed and these things become slagging matches too quickly, which we don't need in a Palace forum. Therefore I'm going to bid this thread good day and go and do some work.

Unfortunately I don't have Sky and went out. When I got back and checked the score I nearly shat myself laughing. My love of football has been restored. I'll have to keep checking the Monaco website to see if they'll produce a DVD or Video of the game.

I love Monaco!!!
