Primal Scream or Radiohead
Would like to see Jet, they were on Soccer AM yesterday, sounds like they are going back to Oz and having a bit of a break from touring.

Currently Radiohead.
Muse, although REM and (perhaps surprisingly) Ocean Colour Scene are excellent live bands as well in my opinion.
Radiohead are pretty damn good but i think they are a little bit too inventive with the set list. Maybe its because I'm not a huge fan (just a moderate one) and don't know any of their b-sides etc.
I saw Primal Scream at Reading and I thought they were pretty average. I felt they played their techno-y tracks well but songs like Rocks were appalling. Maybe it was an off day.

The Foo Fighters have blown me away every time I've seen them live, especially in a small venue.
Though this year The Hives took some beating.

Bon Jovi. Was dragged to Milton Keynes by the missus in 1998 (I think) for These Days tour, and they were brilliant.
Never liked them at all before that. Weird.

My favourite ever gigs were Radiohead at Manchester Apollo, and REM at Brixton Aacdemy, in May and June this year. Of course it depends on your musical tastes, it's no coincidence that they're also my 2 favourite bands. I'd say Radiohead put on a more impressive show in terms of the variety of instruments and sounds that you hear, the REM one was more because the setlists were really varied and took in a lot of old stuff that they don't normally play. I'm seeing Muse at their own gig in 2 weeks, I'm expecting big things :)
I agree about The Hives being well worth seeing, how long do they last at their own gig? They only did about 35 minutes out of a scheduled 60 at V Festival this year.

Hundred Reasons are excellent live, I was also surprised to see how good No Doubt were at Glastonbury last year
Psychokiller

Blondie, and the Polyphonic Spree are the two best I've seen this year.

Saw U2 twice at Earls Court - Elevation Tour 2001....get on.
Absolutely brilliant....even one of my friends, who isn't a U2 fan said it was the best he'd ever been to.
The same friend dragged me along to Limp Bizkit about 6 months previous and apart from the awful supporting act, Godsmack.....the concert was one of the best. So much energy from Fred Durst and the remix of George Michael's Faith in true rock style was amazing.
So to cut to the chase....1) U2 and 2) Limp Bizkit...at the moment. Nobody will ever knock my beloved U2 off the top spot though.

Saw Evanescence tonight at Brixton Acadamy - they were pretty good.
Best concert I have been to was the Peter Gabriel Secret World tour. His Growing Up tour this yeas was ok too.
Garbage & Sleeper did good gigs down in Portsmouth in the 90's as well as a bizarre gig by Shakespears Sister at Westminster City Hall around '91.
Went to see the Corrs a couple of times - good group to see live.

I was very surprised by a Limp Bizkit gig I went to a couple of years ago. I wasn’t expecting to be impressed but I was by the energy and the way Mr. Durst interacted with the crowd. I have seen Placebo a few times and every time they have been excellent. I am not really into stadium acts I prefer the seedy little dives where the likes of Goldfinger play or the big festivals.

I've seen them a few times before (just before Yoshimi came out was the last time) and they are the greatest live band experience I've ever had; I rarely use the word transcendental but I would do with them. Took me right out of myself. They are an astonishing band and I was annoyed and having ti miss them this time around. How were they, by the way?

Muse are fantastic live, saw them at Leeds 2002 and really enjoyed it. Hives were also at Leeds and were far better then than the pretty poor performance they put on at v2003. The lead singers interaction with the crowd was great, genuinely funny guy.

Not a famous group, but Umph who play down at Casablanca Jazz club in Brighton are FANTASTIC! Definetly worth popping in when they are on.
Avril Lavigne and Robbie Williams were both good live - although they are not groups I guess.

10 or so years ago I would have said Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath & Marillion all totally blew me away live. I saw Muse support Bush a few years ago at Shepherd's Bush. It was supposed to be a bit of a triumphant homecoming gig for Bush after their success in the US and Muse were virtually unheard of at the time. Muse were so damn good my crowd and others around us wondered if there was any point in hanging around for the headliners, who inevitably failed miserably to live up to the young pretenders. Then there was Coldplay at the Royal Festival Hall last year just ahead of their last album coming out. Despite not knowing the songs it was still bloody fantastic and the whole audience was mesmerised, like some kind of religious experience. To top it all, Radiohead at Glastonbury this year. Unbelievably good. Can't wait so see them again at Earls Court in a few weeks.

Had to re-hash this thread.
Went to REM last night and they were fantastic. Best gig i've been to. A great set and even Michael Stipe, who's had a reputation as being a bit aloof was a great showman.
I've always quite liked them but not to the obsessive state where you buy the CD's the minute they come out, but last night they converted me totally.
Playing again tonight, shame I can't get more tickets
