Try another mains cable - use one from the monitor to see if its getting power

check the switch at the back, nothing - power supply probably shot. Easy to fix if it is.

worst case scenario - fan on power supply dies, overheating power supply, power surges through machine killing every pcb in it http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/smile.gif

Could be a lack of virtual mental toughness....
To remedy, criticise your computer to anyone you meet; tell your friends how unlucky you are because your computer is almost working and then sell your computer at a vast loss to someone who finds that it is working perfectly... http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/wink.gif

I have a large selection of computer bits and bobs, give us a shout if you need anything!
It's very dead. To be honest it's never worked 100% to begin with, I kept sticking new bits in it and I think I may have gone a bit OTT.
So alan, or anyone who really knows what they are doing with Athlon machines, I'll pay you to fix it !
Oh and I think I may need a new case and more powerful power supply !!!!!!

I'm happy to help mate so PM me or text me on the mobile. I'm going to a computer show early on Sunday so that would be of use to your problem as it's the best place to pick-up stuff cheap !
One question before we go any further - is it a 300w power supply ? - Athlon's should have those installed to work properly and you may only have a 240w one if you've been upgrading all the time ?
I belive it is a 300w supply. However, the Athlon coupled with 2 harddrives, a DVD player, CD burner, Geforce card, mpeg decoder card etc....
It's a cheap power supply and I think it;s given up the ghost. Is this computer fair at Crystal Palace?

No don't.
And don't rule out that it might be the motherboard or processor that's died. Either way, its not a tragic loss.
