I reckon it is Mark Bosnich. Ray Houghton is mates with him from his days at Villa. But this would only be a loan deal.

Massimo Taibi?
samson
08-08-2000, 06:21 PM
Alright lets get a grip here Mark Bosnch! Honestly
I reckon icould be that geezer that plays for Everton, Myhre or Hedman I always get them mixed up and is class but got kept out of the team last season when he came back from injury. He later went to Rangers on loan. Also plyed in Euro 2000.
That is the only class premiership keeper that I can think of that is avaialable anyway.
Baloo
08-08-2000, 06:21 PM
Taibi has already packed his bags and returned to Italy. Ian Walker is a good shout, but can we afford his wages?
And do we want a Playgirl centrefold...?!
Laurie
08-08-2000, 06:44 PM
I reckon its either Walker of Spurs, Forrest of West Ham or Manniger of Arse.

I cant see it being Walker, as Spurs have already sold 1 Keeper this season! Neil stated that it was a big name, why not Bosnich, it might be one of those loan deals where we pay 50% of he's wages & Man U do the same!

Bosnich is hardly going to turn down Celtic to come to Palace, is he?

Maybe it is Walker. Hope not!
Palace Don

Myhre (sp?), Walker (sh*te), Forrest or Maninger
Oxted Eagle
08-08-2000, 07:48 PM
It will not be Walker, as he has been assured by George Graham that him and Sullivan are equals at the moment...plus we don't want him anyhow.
Being that we seem to have a rapport with Arsenal it could be Manninger, but again I would think that he is close to ousting Spunky, who is way passed his sell by date. Leaving only Myhre and Forrest - both of whom are class goalkeepers. Myhre was actually loaned out to Birmingham last season - Rangers pulled out of the deal that they lined up for him.
Let's hope it is him, as he showed what a quality keeper he was at the Euros, and surely he will not be happy being no.2 at Everton.
But I would imagine it is Forrest, as realistically, he would be the only keeper we could afford to meet wage demands with.
Palace Don
08-08-2000, 07:57 PM
I rate Myhre highly. I remember him against Palace a few years back when Brolin played for us in his first game, and we got hammered 3-1. Myrhe was oustanding that day!
James Verrinder

So was Brolin.Talk about first impressions being the right ones!!

Why not Bosnich? MoanU and Celtic had an agreement but he suddenly said no. We looked at Celtics second keeper Kerr(Karr?)so some negotiations Moan/Celtic/Palace must have been taken place at the same time. I know this is a bit strained but not worse than some of the previous theories. Me myself would, not so surprisingly, prefer Hedman. And he´s better than Bosnich!

I think according to Neil it will be a permanent transfer so i can't see it being Bosnich.
I think it will be Thomas Myhre, he's available at a reasonable price and i don't think his wages will be too high.
My money's on him.

I have a friend at Soccernet who gives me all sorts of rumours that I never normally post. He was right about Ruddock and the Arsenal lads recently and I thought it was odd that he told me that today with this revalation that we are about to buy a new keeper. Also,I really want Neil or someone to confirm that its not him so I can try and scrounge a job at Soccernet!!!

For fux sake, we're going to have more goalies than Moan Utd.
The only way might be worthwhile is if we take on a "utility" goalkeeper who also plays left-back.

You have to remember that Kendall has gone and Digby is supposedly unhappy and looking to leave so we probably do need to bring in more than one keeper. I've also heard stories that nobody really rates Gregg at the club and he was signed by Venables after one good performnce against us in the club. Is any of this true?

Riccardo, if it's any consolation, I made exactly the same mistake yesterday. I was also thinking to myself, let's not discard Kolinko so quickly, and why are people discussing goalkeepers that left us ages ago - why don't they stay in touch with events!
