View Full Version : Time to raid QPR?

All the talk is about QPR being in big financial problems again, and the Board will have to listen to offers for any of their players.
Surely worth a cheeky bid on Clarke Carlisle, Martin Rowlands, Marc Bircham et al?

If Dowie is given any money to spend, then QPR would be a logical place to look for a bargain I suppose.
But we saw yesterday that we do have some good players at the club already, when they get their fingers out.

Need a new centre back to replace Edwards when he goes back to Villa. Symons is past it and Powell is not Division 1 quality. IF QPR have any good defenders, let's go for it.
Keeper is more urgent though

We need to pull out all the stops to purchase Myhre first. If I saw correctly, he was giving the players the quick team talk whilst they were in their huddle yesterday!
After that, I wouldn't mind getting Clarke Carlisle.

You never know with Dowie's ex QPR connections perhaps he could get some of there decent players on the cheap.

I want Myhre as 1st priority. Possibly Shittu from OPR? Sounded good on radio yesterday even though they lost 2-1 at Oldham.
Not sure there will be any money to spend though.

Just realised the significance of the post above - Oldham win once they lose Dowie...............

Not only was Myhre giving the players a quick team talk, he was also urging the Palace fans on to give their support - the clenched fist, shouts of 'come on' directed at us before kick off. And he celebrated the Palace goals. For a loan player, he seems remarkably committed. A good keeper too.

Probably just desperate to win for the fans and for the new management.

Powell not Div one quality - clearly didn't watch him last season - this season has been made to play with injuries far too long.

True, Powell needs a centre back partner who will keep in check.
It worked for a period when Symons,Popavic & Powell were togeather last season & I think that was mostly down to Symons as he does seem to be the only defender that uses his voice.
This season, Symons looks past it & Popovic is not a leader. Proved when Powell lost it against Derby, he needed his defensive partner just to get hold of him but nothing happend & he carried on his own sweet way until he got himself sent off.
With the right partner Powell will be an asset.

Actually can anyone else see the beauty?
Iain Dowie managed both QPR and Oldham, he has intimiate knowledge of both teams players and knows which ones might be good signings (if they havent already been sold on) Oldham are in administration, QPR are in some serious financial shit, both teams are vunerable to cheap bids for players, Dowie has the lowe down on them, hopefully he will be allowed to bring in some cheap players...their wages shouldnt be too high coming from division 2.
Or am I just being a little too hopeful that lots of misfortunes will be our fortune?

clarke carlisle has just come out of a rehab centre for a drink problem and has publicly said he wants to repay the faith and understanding of QPR. cant see him turning his back on them now.

I agree Myhre should be made the priority signing, then see what money we have left over.

Marc Bircham might be another one mentioned who might be difficult to drag away. He is a QPR supporter and left newly promoted Millwall (at the time) when he was a first team regular to play for his beloved QPR.

What are the chances of getting Myhre? He has been a great loan signing who has performed well and definately seems to have a good relationship with the fans. As Sunderland's number 3 surely he would love to sign permanantly. Come on ID and SJ, you know it makes sense.
