Basically we are using the same rules as for April, the only difference is that the number of bets have gone down to 15 (first round) and 12 in the second round.
This thread is only to be used for competition comments. Any other bets that are not part of the Masters should be put on the normal Betting Thread.
Anyone who wishes to take part in the betting masters '06 must “register” (post on this thread) before the end of 15 of May. It's free to join and the only rule upon joining is that you start your first tip with I'M IN in capitals at the start of it so that I can keep an easy trace of when people started their campaigns.
Rules are as follows
1 Every player has 150 points to bet with in the first round.
2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 15 bets during the first 20 days.
3 In the second round the 4 finalists all start on 0 points, but the winner from the first round will get an additional 10 points (1 bet) to the 120 points that can bet used in the second round.
4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the 01 of May (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on Wednesday 20/05/04. Then the top four posters come together in a mini league from there on and out May month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the 31, May.
5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score on June 1st
6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.
7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices. In the case of exchanges, in order to clarify that a price genuinely existed the player must put on some of their real money to create a betting slip that will confirm the price they have submitted for Betting Masters. Most prices will be acceptable but in the case of a very high price, a player may be asked to produce a screen print on the thread to verify the price they
quote.
8 Singles and upwards accepted.
9 For boxed multis and bets such as yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.
10 For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than international cricket/European soccer/tennis.
11 Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.
12. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that If you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together.

The only reason i bring it up is because i myself havent been able to do in running bets as part of the competition, Grim put it somewhere but not sure where, I remember him and El Mico discussing it.

I see your point there...and if the major opinion is that “in running betting” shouldn’t be allowed, we should make that a regular rule in the Masters... “this” is a democracy after all..

I think Grim and Stigma should make the call here as they have been running it, hadn't realised it was once a rule and this might have implications on Grims FTSE betting (would be glad to see the back of those :) )
Does the fact that the bet was put on at half time so wasn't actually whilst there was any action going on make any difference? thought not...
Can happily put a screen dump as I had money on it in real life but need someone to tell me how (Ctrl+Alt+Print Screen and then paste it in?)
Can't do it till later as work don't allow me to get into any gambling sites (probably just as well!!)

I think I have to start a bet365 account, those bets looks so exciting..
It makes a potentially boring match (well, champions league semis are hardly boring, but you get my point) and makes every situation in the game count...fun...

agree, I know that bluesquare won't let you do any kind of doubles like bet365 do and suspect most companies are the same
Gone low on corners, bookings and goal minutes for the Arsenal game as I think it will be a dull one (though left goal minutes out of it for the betting masters to be on the safe said, can't trust that pesky frenchman!) Won on this type of treble 2 out of 2 over the weekend so can afford to drop a few.
Personally I think they are related and if I ran a betting site wouldn't allow it, might pay to go all 3 high and then all 3 low maybe, shall have to study my losers

Ruling on the “in betting running” saga:
After getting some views I feel that we should allow “in betting running” in the Masters. It has certainly not been against the rules in the last 3 Masters. I would say that FTSE bets are “in running” and we’ve allowed them previously, so that is also a major precedence.
I think that we should allow almost all bets that you can place with a normal bookmaker.
In cases of betting on “in running betting”, we should enforce rule 7 more:
“7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices. In the case of exchanges, in order to clarify that a price genuinely existed the player must put on some of their real money to create a betting slip that will confirm the price they have submitted for Betting Masters. Most prices will be acceptable but in the case of a very high price, a player may be asked to produce a screen print on the thread to verify the price they
quote.”

I think any winning in running bet has to have a screen dump (added to which it might help me understand the betting exchanges!!!)

Just to explain the performance pts part:
90 minutes play only. Points awarded/deducted for each individual team as follows:
Win the Match=25 pts

Each Goal Scored=15 pts
Each Corner Gained and Taken=3 pts
Keep a Clean Sheet=10 pts
Score before the 20th minute=10 pts extra (max 10 pts per team)
Each Yellow or Red Card Received = 5 pts and 15 pts deducted respectively (maximum 20 points per player)
E.g. Southampton v Newcastle: Newcastle win 2-0 with the first goal scored before the 20th minute, 5 corners each and just one yellow card to Southampton: Southampton: 15-5 = 10 pts, Newcastle: 25+30+15+10+10-0 = 90 pts.
In the event of the match not being completed, all bets void.
I was very surprised that bet365 let you do this treble considering the effect bookings have on performance pts but have put this bet on
10pt treble with bet365 returns 110.25pts
