I wonder if someone could help.
My (89 year old) mum bought me this game. Presumably someone went and got it for her, as she wouldn't know a computer game from a gramaphone record. She gave it to me last week.
I don't know the game myself, but I've seen a number of you mention it. I note its called "Championship Manager 00/01". This may be a silly question, but does that mean it's no use playing it and it's already out of date? Mum had left the receipt in the bag. Should I take it back to the shop and wait for the version 01/02 to come out, or does it make no difference?
I haven't opened the game, so have no idea how to play it. Perhaps the questions I'm asking a stupid, in which case I apologise in advance.

Open it and play it!
Best to download update from the offical site so will give you all the player updates. You can also edit teams and leagues so you could do all the new updates yourself.
Open it, get some beer, pizza, take the phone of the hook, bin your missus and become addicted.
Oh no what no life - (Jim Royle Accent) My ARSE!!!

Boring gits!
BTW will it run on Windows 95, or would I need 97 or greater?
I can't play it at work, so relying on my old PC at home for games.

Thanks pal.
I must confess that as a Fantasy League fanatic (in the National Fantasy League) I already do all the things above! Still, I won't be able to involve myself in the Fantasy League after Sunday week as the season ends, whereas from what you're saying I can play this game at any time.
My poor missus. She was just looking forward to coming out of the bin, and I'll be sticking her back in http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Eidos typically don't release the version for the new season until October/November, so you'll be waiting a long time for an update if you were to take it back.

Definitely get this game out of the wrapper. This game is so addictive. If your PC allows you to defintely play more than one league. I've got 5 leagues going at the same time so I can manage any team from England, Spain, Italy, Germany or France. Apart from CPFC I'm managing Roma, Real Madrid, Lens, Parma, Kauserslautern, PSG and Lazio.
Beware that it will eat into your spare time. I've so far spent 13 days and 23 hours getting through 10 seasons in 00/01 (the game keeps a count of the time spent playing it - I'm currently listed as "I can give this game up whenever I want, really I just don't want to yet").
