...and Kitson comes here. 3 mill for Morrison. Wonder what Kitson costs. Dean Gordon is also possible the fris says.

Selling Clint would be a very bad move. But it would be good to see Deano back.

Can we get Sturridge in part-ex?
After all, he's supposed to be considering a move to Birmingham so maybe he wouldn't mind dropping down a division.

I cant see clinton leaving London, or Jordan letting him go at this stage of the season. The papers are just speculating moves for Derby because Christie and their other attacking players are all out for the beggining of the season.

£3 Million? I suppose we should be grateful it's realistic money but I still don't think we should consider letting CM go at this stage. His natural goalscoring ability is the difference between us finishing mid-table and being relegated. In every win after he returned from injury in January, Clinton was amongst the scorers and was the ONLY scorer on two occasions.
What Jordan has to ask is can we replace Clinton for £3 million and I think the answer quite simply is no.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!
F*ck that.
Clinton's the best prospect outside of the premier, selling him would be nothing short of a disgrace. I can't believe people are even entertaining the idea. Is this (hopefully) just an idle rumour, or is there any fact in it.
I f*cking hope not.

Am I the only one who thinks that Gordon is crap? It comes as no surprise to me that he can't make the Boro team, he couldn't trap a bag of cement.
Please let this be rumour - I think it is but I won't be surprised if Clinton wants away if we don't do well.

This is most disturbing news. Has Clinton leaving the club, got anything to do with the management change?
I don't want Kitson, he is essentially a Premiership reserve.
Saying that, he will probably reject us and we'll get Gareth Taylor back, god help us.

Now come on guys, how often do you believe a newspaper story, it's mere speculation, not sure what paper this was printed in but one paper out of how many, come on!
Also, Clinton said today he wants to stay at Palace and Jordan has said there's no way that he'll sell either Mullins and Morrison, in fact they are apparently in negotiations regarding new contracts, this is just mere paper talk, i can't really see this being true.

anti-addick, Dean Gordon crap??
He's a great player, although his game does depend on confidence. He took on United singlehandedly at Old Trafford a few years ago, but when he's not sure of his form he can be a bit hesitant.
I'd love to see the original Deano back, we do need a left-back, if we can't get Cole then Gordon is a good second.
Anyway before he got injured for a year he was a regular in the boro side; but this season he'd be competing with Ziege.

I don`t think we`ll get Gordon back, he is still out injured for at least 2-3 months, and we don`t know how he`ll be after such a bad and lengthy injury.
I reckon Kitson would be a good buy for us, we need someone who can hold the ball up, create space and goals for others. As long as Clinton wasnt part of the deal i`d be happy.

I was speaking to a bloke who reports on Boro for Radio Cleveland last week and he told me Dean Gordon had broken down in his comeback game.
The Radio Cleve bloke fears Gordon's career may be over. Whether that assessment is correct or not it would be silly to buy a player with a history of injury problems. Ironically, if Dean was fit he'd be a definite Boro starter. They rate him highly and with Ziege goign they're shrot of quality on the left hand side.
Gordon was a good player for us, but long term injury affected his form, especially as he had to try to regain it in a struggling side.

Clinton is also being strongly linked with a move to Coventry. And we all know how much money and how few forwards they have following sales of Whelan and Keane!!!!

Interesting to hear Clinton say he was "gutted" about Steve going yesterday.
If he did move on - I;m sure that would play a big part in any decision, but I can't see Clinton leaving London somehow for the north.

He also said that perhaps 2 new players could be coming in on loan before the Blackburn game.
The model of Selhurst in the lounge from the Ron Noades era was still part of his plans, because it was an architects model initially approved by the council but then it all went into legal jargon I did not understand. Sorry!

I am with anti addick all the way . I was extremely grateful when boro bought him . it always amazed me how the crowd would scream his name for the free kicks , when IMO he was the most bent footed ******* in the division . Gordon was more of an athlete than a footballer much in the same terms as Bruce Dyer was .All pace and strength, very little balance or skill . I want a left back that can pass the ball in a straight line , consistently .Gorden fell short miserably in this respect. Strangley his long passes or wallops down the left wing were quite accurate, although completely predictable.
thanks but no thanks

BIG LETTER!
07-08-2000, 11:40 PM
Firstly we only got £900,000.00 for Gordon, and I thought it was bad business when he left. However, I am probably basing my entire affection for him on Sheff Utd away, although I do remember him rocking the bar at the end of one of our best ever moves at home to West Ham once. The problem is that he is damaged goods, and we can't risk him breaking down with injury again.
As for Kitson, well I'm sorry, but I think he's a quality player, and I don't understand firstly why Redknapp hasn't used him more, and secondly why Charlton haven't broken the bank to sign him following his loan spell there last season.
And Clinton Morrison looks to me as though he's going to go the same way as many a player before him, i.e. he ain't going to get much better, and he certainly isn't good enough at the moment. £3m is good money, and would allow us to buy some of the lower league's finest and still leave us with £2.5m in our back pockets.

The guy was out of position loads of times because he was so eager to get forward, his crossing was rubbish, most went along the deck to be easily cleared and finally about his shooting - Yes, he scored a couple of pearlers but look at how many went into the upper tier, HUNDREDS.
He is a bad player and I was delighted when we got a whole £1m for the cart horse.
Top Post mate....complete bag of sh!te, his pace got him out of trouble so many times cos he was always too far up the pitch...the problem is since his injury his pace has gone and so has his form.
He also had no idea what the other defenders were doing which led to him getting quite a few bollockins from his team mates....handbags at ten paces with Mr Roberts springs to mind, but dont get me started on that ****!!

Well Guvnor6, we beg to differ. I took a risk saying how bad Gordon is because I know a lot of fans like him, I expected to get a bit more shot than that! But I honestly believe that I can tell the difference between a good and bad player, and unfortunately Gordon was the latter.
No disrespect to King Steve but he was typically Coppell - a bullish athelete before skillful footballer. That is fine in the Nationwide but ultimately won't cut the mustard in the Premiership. This showed because he was exposed time and time again. I remember one thing that really made me chuckle, v Southampton on Boxing Day (the Zohar match). He (Gordon) clattered Le Tissier and got the ball off him for once. A guy near me said "Yeah, he really showed you Le Tissier" and it summed up the thinking of many ultra biased fans and clouding of judgment because Le Tissier is 100 times the player the Gordon is, that is a fact.
Guvnor6, take off your rose tinted specs mate, as my learned colleagues also realise - he is sh ite.

I think some of this is more than unfair. Sounds like some people are judging Gordon only by what he was like in his last season here. By then he had totally lost confidence and, yep, he was pretty bad. I remember saying on Egoals at the time that a switch to another club was the only answer (for him and for us) because there was mo way he was going to get on a roll again if he'd stayed.
Sure enough he really sparkled after he left and won rave revues in the Premiership backed up by very impressive Opitima stats.
I'm not saying he should come back as there are other less risky (amd cheaper) options. But, I do think he should get a fair crack of the whip re his contribution as a whole. (For me, his 92nd minute equaliser against Derby when we nearly went up was one of the highlights of the last few years by the way).
PS. I thought this thread was supposed to be about Clinton and Derby in any case. I hear they have refused to send Sturridge on loan to B'ham so doesn't sound like they are expecting a new striker to join any time soon. Anyway, if Jordon let Sir Steve AND Morrison go in his first month in charge there really would be a riot!!

Maybe Guvnor6 but look who agrees with you (above). small number is well known for being a terrible judge of a player, I mean, ANYONE who thinks Dean Gordon is good player and thinks Matt Le Tissier is "rubbish" should really be ignored for the rest of their life.
You make me roll up with laughter small number. I remember when you started that thread last Christmas complaining about Steve Coppells bad tactics after losing away to Clownton. As I think most people realise the reason we stayed up was not because of good tactics by Coppell but because of the good team spirit he had created and the support giving by us. The match V Blackburn was pure emotion. Le tiss is overwieght, lazy and greedy. Also I have never said I'm going to 'get you with my firm' If I wanted to 'get you' I would do it all by myself.

You believe the papers sn, 3 years ago he wasn't which is when I was refering to him. He was ending his career then but in his prime he was WORLD CLASS, Gordon doesn't get close.
I remember people calling Waddle lazy just because he played with an untucked shirt, a bit like Ginola - both players are (were) brilliant.
"Also I have never said I'm going to 'get you with my firm' If I wanted to 'get you' I would do it all by myself."
