This has been mentioned a few times in various threads. It would probably take Dave a fair bit of time and effort to code something proper but i'm sure we can do something just using a normal thread. This thread is to discuss how it should work.

Overview - It would be good to have a facility to see when someone posts 'inside info/transfer rumours' just how reliable they are with their information. Some sort of rating system from their previous 'exclusives' to see if they are good for their word or talking bullshit.

How it could work - Everyone starts on 0pts. If someone posts a rumour/inside info anywhere on the BBS any other user can cut and paste it to the 'gossipdaq' thread. If it turns out to be true the originator gets +1pt. If it turns out to be wrong the originator gets -1pt.

If someone gets two exclusives correct in a row they get 2pts for the second one not 1pt. If they get three in a row they get 3pts not 1pt on the third one. The same goes for getting subsequent exlcusives wrong. This would add more value to the points system and anyone who posted a lot of rubbish would soon build up a big negative score.

Someone would need to keep an ongoing tally of everyone's scores.

This "odious piece of excrement" has been banned from the BBS more than anyone else. Can I have my own clique, or not perhaps? If that is okay with you all.

I would be worried about this on the BBS, it breeds EVEN more junk (more than CCG) as people post just to get their style points up so they can "buy" an avatar or something :(

You can also vote + or - for a post and give it ratings, that just breeds more "vote for me, vote for me" culture :(

Don't you get points for start threads that get a lot of replies? I don't think that would work very well with the Chit Chat Gold system, it would just encourage even more separate threads.

This idea was purely for transfer speculation, to allow you to check how reliable someone had been in the past with inside info when they posted 'i've heard from a reliable source' type stuff.

It has nothing to do with getting points for avatars, starting threads etc...

There is a Karma system with the newer version of this forum software but it is looking icreasingly unlikey that we will upgrade :(

I would be good at that, I have 4 threads in CCG.

The BBS has enough crap that would just breed more especially with the new members
