Wenger: I'll play the kids

by Michael Hart

............
Wenger singled out Ashley Cole, 19, and Jermaine Pennant, 17, as youngsters on the verge of first team places. Stepney-born defender Cole played his first full game in the 4-2 defeat at Newcastle at the end of last season.
............

Meanwhile, Arsenal goalkeeper Stuart Taylor has joined Crystal Palace on a two-month loan deal. The England Under-19 international is Alan Smith's first signing since taking over as Palace manager and he will make his debut in the First Division opener against Blackburn this weekend.
Smith said: "I am told by Bob Wilson (Arsenal goal-keeping coach) and Ray Clemence (England goal-keeping coach) that he is the best young goalkeeper in the country and that is the kind of player we want

No, but better a loan keeper than noone. We don't stand a chance of getting Cole now as highlighted above. There's quite a lot on him at the Arsenal website and everyone rates him very highly.
