Kev, you sounded all knowledgable about computers on another thread. Can you please explain why my printer won't work, if routed through the scanner (which is the only way to have the scanner connected)? This frustrating thing is stopping me from finding a job.

Er... no not really without looking at it. Do they both work seperately?

Kev can often be found mumbling to himself near the bars in the Holmesdale, conversation usually goes like this.

So Kev how's the beer

Great Kev, taste wonderful

Shall we have another Kev?

Yes Kev, lets have another

PGA golf on the PC, playstation or whatever is pretty good - don't like Mario Golf though.

Try the Tiger Woods version Al - that's not bad either.

I have Alan. I like the way Tiger punches the air or follows a putt into the hole! Havent played it for a while. Must retrieve it from the depths of my folders on the PC at work

That's why I put scart in inverted commas as the socket is of the same shape. I'm not (quite) that ignorant. Thanks for the advice, anyway. I'll try when I can summon up the patience.

58 at Sawgrass?!? I'm going to have to know which version you were playing Al - my best round on the megadrive is a 60 at Scottsdale, although an averagely talented friend of mine once shot a 59 at the tough PGA West when so drunk he could only see out of one eye. Cue much Yank-style whooping at 3am. Aaaah, student-life.

So who is the Kev in the forum title, then??

I'm a Tiger pro too! I can do at least 12 under on Bayhill, Scotsdale, Pebble Beach etc.. Anyone fancy an online battle?

Prepate to be humiliated!

There's a 'scart' socket which connects printer to computer. If I want to add the scanner, then I have to 'scart-connect' the printer to the scanner, and the scanner to the PC. Which is Ok for the scanner, but sods up the printer i.e. the settings go haywire and it starts printing some crazeeee sheeeet.

BTW I have just rediscovered the joys of PGA golf on the megadrive, but have lost the adaptor during my recent move back to the manor. Has anyone got a spare one?

I thought Skart sockets were limited to video recorders and TVs. You've lost me and my mate Kev.

Don't get scart's on PC's Jimmy ! - but I can understand why you'd be confused - that would be the printer end of the parallel cable - the other end will have pins on it.

Try connecting them the other way round - one device before the other - not all printers like acting as a pass through device.

How old is the printer ? - and do you have USB ports on your PC ?

If all else fails you should be able to get it to work by getting a cheap parallel switching box, so that both devices can run off the one port.
