According to Arsenal's official website:
Eagles swoop for Arsenal duo
-----------------------------
Midfielder Julian Gray and striker Tommy Black (both 20) have joined Nationwide Division One side Crystal Palace for undisclosed fees.
Both young players progressed through the youth ranks at Highbury winning th 1997/1998 FA Premier Youth League and the 1998 Southern Junior Floodlit Cup. Julian went on to represent the Arsenal first team on just one occasion, making his debut against Newcastle United in the fianl game of last season.
Tommy played 2 games for the Gunners, in last season's penalties defeat against Middlesbrough in the Worthington Cup and the 1-0 away win at Everton in April 2000. He also spent loan spells at Carlisle United and Bristol City whilst at the club.
Both were rewarded for their hard work with squad numbers for last season.
Arsenal Football Club wish both players every success with their new club.

So this makes it official then? Are they now Palace players?
I hope so, as I think they will be good buys, but I think they are going to get a bit of a shock in the first divsion.

Ashley Cole's shock lasted about 20 minutes into the Grimsby game ... let's hope they can do as well as did in the glorious red & blue. Good luck guys!

Welcome lads. You're going to get shock all right - first time you hear the Selhurst Park wall of sound!
By the way, Hills have greeted the news of our new owner and the fact that we are starting to make signings at long last by pushing us out from 33/1 to 40/1 for the title.
I think we have no chance but if those odds get much longer, I might have to have a little tickle.

Les - can you re-do these pictures with Palace shirts? You're the master at that sort of thing.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Palace boys - where'll you'll be guaranteed some first team football and a good reception.
Arsenal's website seems good at getting players positions wrong though - Tommy isn't a striker - more of an attacking midfielder/winger, unless he has switched positions.

May you be the first of many glorious signings that will propel us back into the top flight soon(ish)!

Julian, what's that sound?
I don't know, Tommy. I've never heard it before.
It's very loud isn't it? How are we meant to concentrate on playing football with all that noise?
Well, if we move down the pitch away from that really large stand it goes a lot quieter.
Julian?
Yes Tommy?
I think it is people who are making that noise.
You must be joking! You're not allowed to make noise at the football. Are you?
Well, that's what they told us at Arsenal...
Do you think they were lying to us at Highbury?
No, because that seems to be the rule at all the other Premiership grounds as well.
OK. It is a bit loud but the songs are catchy. At least we'll have something to listen to during the game.
Yeah, although I can't work out why they sing about that man who went to roam the sea...

Is that the sort of sound where you can hear a pin drop after we've let in the third goal after being 3 up?

Steady Sandy. That sort of occurance is a thing of the past now. Also, the fox-hunting brigade are thinking of bringing back hanging for heretics.

Perfect Day? I assume the end bit of an obscure Beatles song may also work. "Na na na na na na na na na na na, hey Jules", etc. ad infinitum.
Of course, we could also try and work out some songs for people who have been here a while and still not raised a warble from the crowd.

Good luck to the new guys.
If they are as good as Ashley Cole, then we should be in for a treat next season.

Now that we've signed Black and Gray, does this mean that we could soon be signing a whole team named after colours?

Having just read Macken's comments on his advisors' website, I came across this, and found it amusing.

The magic between the 36th and 40th minutes of the match at home to Pompey October '00. Put us 2-0 (first one was an awesome goal) up and we still lost 2-3 and Tommy's days of being our best player were over as quickly as they began!!!
