A friend of mine heard it was between £4m and £5m!!! Can't believe that??!! Can I?

The only thing that fee shows is just how desperate Ipswich have become to attract players to their club.
It's beyond all reason.
Those poor unfortunate souls on the WFC bulletin board are going crazy about this. They think its a poor signal to give the rest of the squad and fear a mass exodus.
Let's hope!!!
Oh, by the way, they think 8,500 for the opening home game of the season was OK.
How very sad.

I take it that that is a Nowt monies in the Palace Kitty from that one then.
I'm afraid so Cheerleader. As far as I'm aware the sell on clause only applied when Hermann transferred from Brentford to Wimbledon. I don't think I've ever heard of a case where a club has a sell on clause which entitles them to pocket any money if the player moves after that, although I stand to be corrected. I'm sure Brentford may have got some money out of this latest deal though.

Didn't repeated sell-on clauses apply to Stan Collymore ?

Doesn't really matter, any sell-on monies would go to CPFC 1986 and not CPFC 2000. Monies would then be used to assist in paying debts.

Wimbledon paid us £1.5 million for Hermann (I think you got about £150,000 of this, which was pissing in the ocean of your overdraft at the time). We were due to get another £1 million once he had made 50 appearances for the Dons. I think we now lose out on that, but will get a decent cut of the Ipswich money, but probably not as much as a million.
I just hope Hermann is doing the right thing - he should be playing in the Premiership, but another relegation beckons for him, which would be his third in four seasons. The other season, of course, he was part of our Championship winning team.
Good luck to him, whatever he decides to do.

He's useless and Ipswich have made a big mistake. They'd have been better off trying to get Ruddock rather than a player who's been in 2 relegations in 3 seasons. He can't cut it in the top flight, end of story.
The dons have had it, their owners are just trying to cut their losses whilst they still can - it's amusing.

Or a player who was in three relegations in consecutive seasons. Then again that Jansen's pretty useless isn't he? http://cpfc.org/ubb/sarcblink.gif

Has it occured to you that the other players may have had something to do with the relegations? I saw Hermann play for Iceland against France and he made Zinedine Zidane look ordinary. If he's useless, I'd like a team full of players as useless as him!

Edmundo,
Herman COULD be a top player if he followed team orders instead of charging around like a headless chicken, It may be OK in Div 3, but he got found out quite a few times in the Premiership with us.
When Lombardo took over as manager that year he made a comment about certain players not following the managers plan and one of the players dropped was Herman. The little I have seen of him since indicates that he hasn't learnt yet.

Perhaps it is to do with how he gets on with the manager? He certainly wasn't a headless chicken at Brentford. But perhaps if the manager is the sort who wants their defenders to kick the ball upfield, rather than bringing it out, I can see that they might not take to Hermann. Can't see how that makes him a useless footballer though, which was what anti-addick called him and what prompted me to rush to his defence.
I remember Bobby Robson singling him out for praise after Wimbledon played Newcastle last season and half expected him to be bidding for him. Perhaps he will, as I gather Wimbledon are saying that the deal hasn't been agreed yet.

Headless chicken sums him up for me.
As for Jansen, Men at Work - could you please name the third relegation??? It's a bad analogy anyway, Jansen has obvious skill in abundance but joined 2 teams on the trot that had massive problems, you can't say that about HH.

Err, I think you can, actually.
Nevertheless, I agree that Herman is not as good as Edmundo would have us believe.
Personally, I found his forays upfield hugely entertaining and I can well remember a game against the Arse where he played Bergkamp off the park but one swallow does not make a summer.
He's inconsistent and every time I saw Wimbledon on the box last season he was at fault for at least one of the goals they conceded with montonous regularity.

Ipswich have paid in excess of £2,500,000 for Herman Hreidarsson. Thanks again Goldberk & Venaballs.

At least that's one less ex-player who'll score against us this year. How much did Wimbledon originally pay for him from Brentford?

According to teletext last night, 2.5 million was the first offer (which was turned down) and Wimbledon are allegedly now "thinking about" the latest 4 million pound bid.
The world has gone mad!

Well I'm not Men at Work, but didn't he get relegated with Carlisle or something the year before he joined us?

It was Coppell who picked him and Lombardo who dropped him. So I think that this doesn't apply. Playing the ball out of defence is good, leaving a premiership class striker unmarked in your own box isn't.

Herman's a good player to have outside the Premiership with his wild runs but he is pretty poor defensively. Not a good buy for a premiership club.

I had the misfortune to watch our 4-0 thrashing at Barnsley (Del Rio and Fan's debuts I think - with Venners managing). Anyway, Herman, who I had always had a soft spot for, gave one of the most appalling displays at left back I have ever seen in my life. I know centre back is more natural for him, but he wasn't even at local parks standard that day. And yet he was still running up and down the park like a man possessed. I say this not with admiration but with some pity. Bullock, arguably one of the slightest built players in the league lent on him, pushed him, tore him apart with skill and pace and then came back for more!
To end on a high though, Lombardo had such an excellent and gentlemanly game that the Barnsley fans applauded his every touch by the second half. Now yorkies (especially them from frozen Barnsley) are not best known for liking 'foreigners' (anyone south of Sheffield) but they applauded him off the pitch. Ahhhhhhh! Just one Lombardo!

I have been getting more and more depressed
tonight reading knocking copy on the BBS. thank you for letting me go to bed with a reminder of happier times and of one of the greatest players and personalities to wear a Palace shirt.
