it's probably too late, but it sure as hell feels good. i'm glad houghton's gone too, i had a nasty feeling that he'd replace Sm*th as top man.

So, stevie kember for now, then bring back Malcom Allison ( http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/wink.gif)

Praise the Lord. I had seriously stopped caring but I now believe that we might just do it. Everybody that can, must be at Portsmouth to urge them on.

PS At long last justice for Mr Kember. His sacking in 1982 was an complete disgrace.

If this had happened as little as a week ago we would have stayed up, he has sacked him now to try and appease the fans he surely can't think we can escape relegation after yesterdays result. The only way Jordan can win over the fans is to apologise for not listening to the voice of the fans months ago and admit he was wrong. That said I'm just relieved that Smith won't be around next season.

I for one feel sorry for our recently departed Mr Smith, he had only the best intentions for the club and once again he cocked up big style,i do understand that there was a need for him to be removed but i do wish it could have been on better terms with us fans, i would like to take this opportunity to wish the best for the future!

My understanding from a couple of sources was that the Season Ticket protest made a difference to SJ.

Make of that what you want.

Revenue streams or fan discontent?

In a way I am sad that Houghton has gone too.

yeah Houghton's a nice bloke and I loved him as a player, I'm sure he'll get a job in the football league in no time, good luck to him.

Smith however, well if Croydon Athletic U/15's reserves are looking for a guy to make the half-time oranges, he might be in luck.....

The cloud has only partially lifted from over Selhurst - the sun will now try to shine again - but with only two games left, it just adds a little more farce to our pig's ear of a season.

I hope the players are glad to see the back of him, and they're inspired under Steve Kember's leadership - Deano didn't sound too convincing on Sky Sports just now - that's all we need; the players to stick up for the recently departed! http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/frown.gif

I'm feeling really smug today. On the 17th of April I was slagging the BBS off because all you do is whinge. I suggested you throw your season tickets on the pitch at Wolves, just as they threw their merchandise catelogues on the pitch at their place. Now I'm not saying that this was the only reason he's gone but it had to help.
Direct action. You've got to love it.
Well done the BBS, I will probably never slag you off again.
See you all at Portsmouth and in the pubs of Manchester on Saturday night!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately it's a case of too little too late.

The really cynical amongst us may think that the change was only done to ensure a slightly less hostile reception at the next fan's night.

I must admit to thinking that. But at the end of the day, who cares what the motivation was. Cyclops has gone! And our destiny is in our own hands. Just need to beat Pompey by two goals and then get at least the same result as them, if not better, in the last match of the season.

All I can say is that it should have happened at least two months ago. I hope Steve Kember can save us, but it seems a bit unlikely given the sh:t that the bald wonky eyed tosser has left us in!

The main worry is how long it will take us to recover from Smith's latest attempt to screw up our club!

FROM THE OFFICAL SITE

SMITH AND HOUGHTON DEPART.
Crystal Palace Football Club have parted company with Manager Alan Smith and his assistant Ray Houghton following a run of just two wins in sixteen matches and a fight against relegation going into the final two matches of the season.

Chairman Simon Jordan appointed Smith in August and was disappointed to have to make this decision following their latest defeat against Wolves. “ It has been a difficult decision because through all the disappointment there has been some very positive strides forward made within the structure of this football club since I took over in July. It should not be forgotten that we had an excellent cup run which saw victories recorded against quality Premiership sides.

I thank Alan and Ray for their effort throughout the season and we all wish them the best of luck in the future”

Chief Scout Steve Kember will now take charge of the team for the two remaining games of the season.
