Sorry not had time to read all the forums. Can anyone giv me a quick round up of where we are with all our bids. I was expecting a flurry of new signings this week and all has gone quiet. No news on Sandor, has he finally signed?

He was apparantly with Dowie at the Whytleafe friendly last night, I guess that is why the number 10 shirt was left off the official squad numbers list on the cpfc website this morning. He is expecting to play in front of 20,000 (?!?!) fans tonight against Sporting.

Sandy: Was at the Friendly last night with Dowie
Kolka: Cleared to play tonight
One Size: End of the week proabably
Kiraly: Deal looks dead
Carrick: Looking less likely
Harewood: Unlikely but still a possibility
Mhrye: Looking likely soon
Alonso: still on trial
Allback: Who knows

Harewood: Unlikely but still a possibility

Many thanks for this. My guess is Allback deal is dead now we have Sandor. Would be nice to have Mhyre back, we dont want to many hungarians all gettting into a little gang! :o) Would still ike to see Harewood come.

Carrick deal is dead too maybe, so who is going to be our midfielder? What happen to Zoltan etc etc

Errrr, Jamie Smith is way too good to join the Gasheads, he's actually joined on TRIAL for Bristol City. Western Daily Press reported yesterday that Tinnion was impressed and wants to offer him a deal.

Torghelle was telling everyone who would listen at the QPR game that he has signed but the club are still waiting to announce it for some reason.

Ben Surey to Gravesend and Northfleet - Free.

Gavin Heeroo to Billericay and then Bristol City on trial.

Jay Conroy and Chris Head to AFC Wimbledon on trial.

Gaddafi in for Crystal Palace Football Club

13:19 7/18/2004

Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi could be about to buy Crystal Palace Football Club, says the club’s current chairman Simon Jordan.

36-year-old Jordan has admitted that he would consider selling the Eagles, who clinched a place in this season’s Premiership by beating West Ham United in the play-off final in May.

"I have achieved what I have set out to do - I don't enjoy football any more,” said Jordan. "And I've been told that Gaddafi and his son are interested in acquiring Crystal Palace.

“If Gaddafi's money was able to progress Palace and allow them to compete at the top of the tree and be a successful football club, then one would have to take that into consideration.”

Rang this for a giggle and it says that Pierre van Hoojdionk is to join for £1m for 1 year with another 1 year option. The Euro 2004 star is Thomas Rosciky and he is supposed to be joining on a 3 year deal. Oh and by the way we are also interested in Sylvain Wiltord. That was £6.50 well spent.

NO CHANCE! He is an outstanding player who is one of the best and most agile carriers of the ball in the game. Unfortunately this means we couldn't afford him and that much bigger clubs would be in for him. I'd eat two hats if he came.

Aren't you forgetting the way he behaved at Forest when he went on strike, and led to Dave Bassett coming out with the memorable quote "I would like to offer Pierre an olive branch ..... and shove it right up his arse"

Van Hoijdonk is poison and would be a disaster, in my opinion.

Van Hooijdonk and Rosicky???? Would rival the Lombardo signing imo. No chance of either tho, Rosicky had an outstanding Euros and Van is after winning trophies in his last few seasons.

Dave Bassett can go feck himself, anyone who upsets that crunt is alright by me.

So you would ba happy us signing a player who has gone on strike at previous clubs because they are not ambitious enough for him?

Check out his track record, he has ••••ed around at Forest and at Celtic and would do the same here. No way would Dowie tollerate such a disruptive influence in the dressing room.

Stay well away.

Rosicky can't even see our league from where he is. He's one of those odd players who is very highly rated and worth about as much as a half dozen Abramovich-style battleship yachts, yet as he hasn't played in the premier league the papers etc seem to assume he's going to be a bargain.

Van Hooijdoink - Stranger things (Lombardo) have happened! If anyone in the Premiership gets him, he'll represent far better value than Kluivert imho.

That was years ago, and I'm sure I've heard he's mellowed quite a bit since then. But still, he should be filed under 'Fantasy', methinks.

He's a good player, but I wouldn't be happy to see him at Palace. He represents everything that I hate about football, I would like to think that after all our toil grinding our results against Rotherham, Crewe and the like, we would sign someone who wasn't just interested in his enormous pay packet.

As you say though, it's in the realms of fantasy.

I'd be happy with us signing a player who would get us 20 goals and ensure survival for a season, yes. As I remember it he went on strike at Forest because they didn't sign anyone and so had no chance of trophies. He's since won things in Europe. It's all about ambition and so he won't come to us, but he's been brilliant at Feyenoord in recent seasons.

I think that you're underestimating Dowie if you think that he couldn't handle a player of this man's talent and temprament.

Rosicky is one of the best midfielders in the world. That rumour is nothing less than insulting. You should ask for your money back, because they've completely made that up.

Surely there is a way to do them under the trade descriptions act for spouting off crap like this.

yes maybe you should, there was nothing 'ironic' about that, it was a misinterpretation. Infact i would say it was ironic that you joked about looking up a word in a dictionary whilst using the word incorrectly! i.e you actually do need to look up irony in the dictionary.

...and breathe

sorry should have said go and look up pedantic instead !

Anyway back to topic I think there's more chance of CPFC offering me a contract than Tomas Rosicky - looking around the various sites he has been linked with Chelsea, Man Utd and Juventus over the last few months. He is still at Dortmund but that gives you an idea of the types of clubs we'd be up against, and the type of move he'd be looking for.

Sure you didn't mishear it and we're actually signing Tomas Repka ?!

IMHO van hooijdonk would be the ideal target man for us in the Premiership.

Pierre Van Hooijdonk retired from football last week.

Definitely. Would be the biggest signing in the club's history IMHO

Wasn't he playing in Turkey recently, not for Feyernoord? I'm sure you're right, but it doesn't exactly say he's retired in that link.

Aren't you forgetting Tomas Brolin. He was pretty big, could have given Shippers a good run for his money.

That's the thing, he left Feyenoord in 2002. He's been playing for Fenerbace since then.

Maybe I'm wrong about his retirement.

By the way, he'd be an exciting signing.

To clarify the age question, he'll be 35 in November.

I look at these club call headlines on 510 quite often just for a laugh. No one seriously believes an ounce of truth in any of them, not one of there amazing biggest signing ever headlines has come to anything, imagine the side we would have if they did. Champions for sure.

The other day the teletext thing had "Biggest deal in the history of...' for about 4 clubs, including us, Norwich and WBA

well Wbrom signed Kanu and Norwich signed Helveg. I'd say they are pretty huge signings in relation to the clubs history.

He hasn't even retired from international football let alone standard football. Would be a great signing (i think he's on a free) however we have no chance of signing him.
