Out of all the versions ever created which one is the best?

97-98 just shades it from 99-00.

99-00 was less realistic than 00-01 as the players were better than they should have been, but it was a lot more fun.

97-98 had some great players and you didn't need the CD to play it, so I gave it to all my friends and it was very competitive.

CM2 was the best because it was such a major upgrade from CM1 - when it came out it seemed amazing in comparison.

I've had every version of CM, but I cant really remember CM1 (or CM 93 as it was called) except for the fact that there were only about 20 foreign players which you could sign, you had to wait three minutes after every game for processing and that Nicky Banger was a great player.
Would I be right in saying that there wasn't a version for the 94-95 season?

There was also CM 92 on the Amiga I believe that started it all.

My pick was CM 2 as it was the most improved as Malden Eagle..I was dumbfounded playing it.. and it was also the game I played the most by far.

Playing on the Amiga, waiting about 10 minutes to start up a game! Then ages after every game while it calculated the results.

I used to live and breathe that game. Would play it all night with my mate down the road. Go to school run back at lunch to play it and skip the rest of the day playing. He was a spurs fan and always nicked the best players available grr. Even with made up players I kind of miss the simplicity of those older versions.

I'd have to say 96/97 was the best as thats the one I first started playing with and I have some great memories from that version. It was so easy to cheat and I used to buy Raul and Totti even if they were utter crap.

However my vote goes to CM1. I downloaded it recently and its so addictive. It may have fake players but they way of negotiating contracts and transfer bids is brillaint.

I also loved the deadline day transfer deals.

Watching the players names appearing.. hoping desperately to get £5m bid for a reserve player of yours. Especially in the early seasons when you wanted to get rid of half your squad. Theyre probably more realistic now, but I miss those deadline days when you could sell almost any crap player.

Also rushing to the Foreign Players screen to see what new talent had appeared. The fights over these with my friends got so bad we had to alternate picks, like a draft.
