Ok i have no idea how much it would cost however when the plane went to Sunderland last year it was about 95 per person if memory serves.

If you are hoping for an easyjet 19.99 then you will be way off, i wouldn't expect it to be as expensive as Sunderland but then i know very little about how these things are priced. I do know Jake will divide the total cost by the number of people and thats the price.

Still awaiting a price but the coaches are booked.

Jake - so what is latest time we need to be at Gatwick if flight is at 15.45.

Is it 1 hour before the flight?
Do we need ID/etc

GreatGonzo
29-10-2004, 01:08 PM
They ask people to be there at least an hour before - somone tried last time to arrive 10 minutes before take off so never got the flight!

ID is always advisable, we didn't need it last time but different company by the look of it so be prepared to take some.

The crucial thing is for people to have paid Jake the money ASAP so the flight goes ahead!

GreatGonzo
29-10-2004, 01:09 PM
Oh and parking at Gatwick would cost about 7.50 so if you are thinking of driving try and fill the car up otherwise trains run from Gatwick to East Croydon all through the night.

If you haven't recieved an email confirmation today do not be concerned, Jake hasn't been able to do any today. He will be catching up with all the bookings tomorrow morning.

If you are interested in it Jake will really need to knoee tomorrow, Tuesday at the latest, it is the best option for travel to and from the game and you will get back probably 3 hours earlier than by any other travel and probably 4 hours quicker than the coaches.

Crikey, there's no chance of this game being off Evs is there? I thought that for international friendlies the 9 day rule only applied if there wasn't an r in the month. Can you please let me have a definite answer quickly as I was going to buy my ticket soon. Does anyone know when they go on sale?

What a shame - apparently a first team player just tried to book 2 tickets to get up there as they will not be in the squad!

I know Jake will keep going with these and there will be many more opportunities in the future.

I think he is just getting the practice in so it is easier to organise the European away days in the next couple of years! ;) :D

SHIPEAGLE
04-11-2004, 12:50 PM
I know Jake is disappointed this one did not take off, but I believe it was due to the fact that many supporters are not going to pay out good money to travel to Manchester to watch what is likely to be a team made up of squad players rather than the full 1st team and if it is correct that a 1st team player has tried to book seats, then perhaps those supporters not going are fully justified.

However, I have now booked to go by train leaving at 2.30 from Euston arriving Manchester at about 4.50 and getting the 06.35 from Manchester to get me to Euston at 9 am to go to work. With hotel this is costing 114 - NOT BAD TO SEE A RESERVE MATCH

No wonder hardly any support for the plane

Whatever happened to the rules of these competitions that said you had to play your strongest team available. What a joke football is becoming, bearing in mind also my comments on other threads about the actual match ticket prices being 5 more for Palace supporters (members) compared to what Man Utd members are paying despite the leagues rules of equal pricing for cup matches.

Any way we had better win at this price.

GreatGonzo
04-11-2004, 12:53 PM
Will give away who it is but the player would not have played if it was the 1st team!

GreatGonzo
04-11-2004, 12:56 PM
Well all know it is highly unlikely he will play AJ etal but them it is not the reserves either. It is almost a team in between two! Any of the players who played at Charlton i would be happy to see in the 1st team.

We also have a lot more experience in the team we put out than the likes of Arsenal and Man U how play a very youth based set of players.

I am reasonably confident!

AFAIK it is equal pricing, however, clubs are permitted to offer discounts to their club members.

We do it too, albeit only 10%.

We're in the East Stand 2nd Tier. It's 16 for Man U members, 21 for Man U non members, and 21 for Palace fans.

I ain't complaining - cheaper than any away League game we'll go to this season, and even if it is Man U's reserves, at least that levels the playing field a bit, and makes it more close as a contest.

Neil - if you are correct, then how come it is now 4 days and the Football League have still not been able to confirm to me that Manchester United are perfectly within the rules of the competition to offer their members different prices to what our members are being charged.

It is not that they have not taken any notice of my messages, as I have had holding replies from them - if the pricing was correct they surely would have told me by now.

Great Gonzo - Course i'm not a Man U member
According to competition rules tickets should be available to supporters of both clubs in a cup match at equal value
So for a Man U member 16 for a Palace member 21
For a Man U non member 21 for a Palace non member 21
How do you make that equal for our supporters
I agree 100% re members discount for league matches as both teams have home matches, but in the cup if we were drawn away at Man Utd 10 times running (unlikely I know) we would be hit with this same situation each time.
I am hopeful of getting a reply this week from the League

In the UK, each club's membership scheme is unique and sets its own price and determines which benefits, discounts and incentives it will make available to its members.

Your example would only hold water if all Members Clubs were the same and conferred the same rights.

I know some other European leagues have a single supporters "club" divided up between their participating clubs, but we don't.

As for drawing the same team 10 times, well that would be the luck of the draw and you can't legislate for that.

Following my complaint to the Football League re the 5 difference in ticket prices, have now rec'd following from the FL
Quote
Thanks for your email. In considering your dissatisfaction at the actions of the various parties involved, I have referred your comments to the management board.

They will discuss the case at there next meeting, and as soon as I get some more information from them, I am more than happy to give you their feedback.

I look forward to being able to give you a more definite answer.

CPFC have also confirmed to me that the only price they agreed with Man Utd was 21, no agreement to the 5 reduction for the Man U members.

Will post final FL comments once rec'd.

GreatGonzo
18-11-2004, 02:54 PM
So in making the complaint on a case i thought you had no chance with you could have Man U in trouble on a different matter! Like it!

If Man U have been caught selling tickets cheaper than they are allowed to they will be forced to make up the difference. Assuming all 40,000 people there were members that would be 200,000. Not much to Man U i guess but would be quality for them to be caught out!

SHIPEAGLE
18-11-2004, 03:26 PM
Actually the 200,000 is shared between the Clubs.
I notice they have also done the same pricing for the Arsenal match so it could apply to that as well. I have pointed this out the FL of course.

Not much to Man U i guess but would be quality for them to be caught out! Not quite, Gonzo. If Man Utd undercharged 40,000 people by 5 each, that means they made 200,000 less than they should have done. They would therefore have to pay Palace half of that, i.e., 100,000. But Man U could just as easily claim that, rather than undercharging their own fans, they actually overcharged Palace fans. In that case, all Palace members who attended the match would be entitled to a 5 refund. Let's say there were about 1,000 fans affected, that's 5,000 to be refunded. Half of this would have to come out of Palace's share of the gate, so Man U would actually be down 2,500, not 100,000, and certainly not 200,000.

Of course, all this is academic, because there's no chance of anything being done. I admire Shipeagle's efforts but, in the unlikely event of the FL ever giving the matter genuinely serious consideration, his complaint just won't hold water. Neil the Eagle made the crucial point - each club's membership scheme is unique in terms of pricing and benefits. It doesn't make sense for Palace club members to claim that they are automatically entitled to the same discounts as Man U club members, just because we happen to be playing them in an away cup match. Season ticket holders at some clubs get free admission to cup matches - if we get drawn away to such a club in the FA Cup, will all Palace season ticket holders be demanding free admission?

If I'm wrong and the FL do follow up on Shipeagle's complaint, then the only logical outcome would be that all clubs are banned from offering discounts to their own members for cup matches. It seems odd that fans themselves should be campaigning for such a ruling.
