Crawley Town v Crystal Palace
22nd July 2000 K.O. 3pm

Crawley Town Football Club Broadfield Stadium
Brighton Road
Crawley
West Sussex
RH11 9RX

Telephone:
Fax: 01293 410000
01293 410002

Ground Capacity: 4,996 (1,150 seated)

Tickets on the day £6 standing £7 seats. £3/£4 for kids.
All tickets on the day.
Holds between 5/6 thousand and all areas of ground should be open. Crawley has a few pubs on the way up too Broadfield and a cab office at the station. The bus station is also opposite Crawley station.

BY CAR - From the M23 take the A23 signposted to Crawley. At the bottom of the hill the ground is on the left. Turn left at the roundabout to enter the stadium car park.

Alternatively follow the A217 towards Crawley.

The ground is extremeley well signposted.

For those coming from further afield : Follow whichever road you fancy until you reach the M25. Then head for Junction 7 and leave the motorway at this junction and take up the M23. On the M23 head for Junction 11 (Pease Pottage turn off). Go up the slip road and turn right, going across the motorway until you come to the last exit. This is Pease Pottage Hill and it runs parallel with the motorway. At the bottom of this hill is a roundabout, take the left turn and you will be in the car park of Crawley Town FC.

Ample car parking if your early (350 spaces) but you can always park by Broadfield East school and walk through (1 min) to the ground.

BY TRAIN -

Trains run from East Croydon.

From Crawley British Rail it is 1.5 miles to the ground.turn left out of the station onto Station Way. At the junction with High Street turn left over the level crossing into Brighton Road. At the end of Brighton Road you will see the ground on your right. The ground can be accessed by the subways under the A23. 20 minute walk to the ground.

The exit from the station brings you out opposite the large indoor shopping centre. There are plenty of places to eat here - and pubs are scattered around including Wetherspoons. Failing that - arussell recommends the
excellent clubhouse facilities at the ground which put Crystals to shame.

AlanW has found out that we are welcome in the clubhouse but they may close if there are too many people trying to get in (fire regulations). good atmosphere, good selection of drinks, food, pool tables, table football, pinball, friut m/c's

1 pub right outside 3 Bridges The Snooty Fox, may be difficult to get taxi from there.

The bus station is outside Crawley Station as is a cab office. Probably more pubs from Crawley on way to Broadfield.

Disabled facilities
their disabled facilities are good (only downfall last time was that they were with the home support!)- there there is a lift to halfway in the main stand and several wheelchair spaces - there are also several parking spaces for orange/blue badge holders right outside the main stand. The stewards were all very helpful. I also understand there are spaces at pitch side as well.

oh and in case anyone hasn't seen the cp-fris bulletin yesterday (if not why not??) parking in the Broadfield School is NOT recommended apparently.

Street parking other than the main car park (if anyone has their cp-fris bulletin to hand there was an area recommended)

From Ray/CPFRIS

FRIENDLY WITH CRAWLEY TOWN
**************************

Doug Murdoch warns :

"Janet's otherwise excellent travel directions are marred by only
one thing and that is the advice to park close to Broadfield
School. This will greatly upset the residents as the Council gave
an undertaking to them that overspill parking would NOT be
acceptable in their area it will harm the good relations that
Crawley F.C. have with the residents.

"Please amend to Parking at top end of Brighton Road (1st turn
left off of A23 around the roundabout} access through pedestrian
underpass. There are many Eagle supporters in Crawley and we
don't want to irritate people do we?"

Doug Murdoch Crawley Councillor and lifelong Palace fan.
