From www.palace-echo.com (http://www.palace-echo.com) ...
There have been some changes to the League programme:
The WBA away game originally scheduled for Sat 2/9/00 has been moved to Sunday, to coincide with WBA Centenary. The game is not being televised and is expected to be a 3pm kick off.
Additionally, our home derby game against Wimbledon on Sat 7/10/00 has also been pushed back a day to avoid clashing with the England v Germany World Cup qualifier.
However one game that is NOT going to be moved is the August Bank Holiday Fixture against Nottingham Forest - apparently the Police have decided they can now cope with a Palace home game and the Notting Hill Carnival on the same day.

Thanks for this Neil. I was a bit worried about the Wimbledon match, because I've just applied for tickets for the England v Germany match (being the last match at Wembley and all that).
Is the Forest game at 3pm or an evening game?

As I understand it, I work with a WBA fan, September 3rd coincides with their 100th anniversary, or something.
They are looking at having some sort of celebration that day.
Maybe without the three points then?

3pm, I believe mate - might be worth checking with the club though, it doesn't give KO's on my fixture list.

I'm pretty certain that it will be a 3pm kick off.
I'm bloody glad the Wimbledon game has been pushed back, i've a wedding to go to on the Saturday so i will miss England Vs Germany anyway.

I think you will find Isleworth that when it says the Wimbledon game has been pushed back a day means it will be on the Sunday (8th)!

**** WBA and England !
I'm annoyed that both have been moved to Sunday's - surely the interest in England as a football team now is on a par with the cricket side !?
I love international cricket Alan so http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/surprised.gif! Come on England!!! http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/smile.gif

I think you'll find that quite a few people are usually interested in England v Germany. In any case it's probably good marketing you would lose a lot of the casual pay on the day people who would probably rather go to the pub and watch England v Germany anyhow - so by moving it to the Sunday may mean more punters / more revenue?? (unless they too are put off by a sunday?)
As for West Brom - can't blame them for moving a match 24 hours to coincide with their centenary anniversary - we'd probably do the same.
Agree with Neil - some of us do support our national team as well and I think it's right that we don't have to choose between club and country (although would have to say again it would be palace every time - although the stade de france vs the hawthorns would be a tough choice!!!)

There's a bonus for some of us who are still England footie fans Al. On 2/9/00, England are playing France in a friendly at the Stade de Francais. I'll be going there then driving back through the night to get to WBA - a great weekend of "top class" football http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/supergrin.gif

I agree - usually they are yes, however - I am not alone in my waning interest in the national side. Same old story - same old tired players - a few of us debated this off board a while ago and if our choices were anything to go by - the national side would have an entirely different look ! - to some extent though, you can blame the prolificness of foriegn players and managers, and Liam Brady was WELL out of order with his comments last week about Arsenal - I suggest he gets out a bit more often and watches more football.
As for the second choice - it's not tough at all - Palace v England - there is only one winner every time, England comes nowhere near Palace on the emotional/feeling scale - and haven't we been through this before on at least two other threads ??

Well said.
I thought I was the only one up at this hour.
I shouldn't be but I had to catch up on the news! http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/smile.gif
