I don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but in 00/01 have a look at a non-league team called Alferton. They always have all the best players that go on to be interntational players. Is it just in my game?. Have a look they, are all about 2-10K to buy and are on 10K a year but if you try to buy them they want 350K a year, so they seem to know their true worth. Finding this out has really help me conquer the world.

I remember considering Lancaster for a uni too. Think it was because they had the PPP course I was interested in at the time.

My enthusiasm soon cooled after I realised just how far north they are, and how isolated they are and if I remember right, they are a campus too (I much prefer cities - a lot more going on).

Lancaster's in the south! Well, from here anyway, but I have a friend who insists that everywhere south of Lancaster is The South. ;)

Its near Manchester. So what if it is isolated, if the birds are nice i will be in bed or in the bars all the time.

Sutton and Dover have some gems. look at Danny Barton of Rhyl on my game he's the dogs b*****ks and is dirt cheap.

When I started this thread I wasn't just recommending the odd good player, I'm telling you, everyone from that non-league side is a superstar. It's uncanny.
I'm not sure if all of you know but to keep the game's database more or less the same size, as soon as a player retires then he is "Cloned" made young and given a new name - i.e. Alan Shearer retires then all of a sudden there is a Tim Simms (for example) aged 15 with all the same attributes as Alan Shearer. All players (including duds) are recycled. (there is a cheat download somewhere that keeps a database of all players when they retire and who replaces them (it works because both players use the same unique player code) so you can find out the stars of the future really easily. Reply to this if you want me to post the address - I'm sure I'll find it somewhere.)
This team Alferton, though, seems to get all the stars. Where the hell is Alferton in real life anyway? does anyone know. Do check them out in 00/01 they're amazing - if you can get them to sell anyone.

I cant find any real "finds" unless they are brought up from my youth team...if i send my scouts out to find youth players i never find anyone that is ever going to be good enough to get a chance on my first team......

Even if the birds arent nice, I suspect you would still be in the bars all the time ;) Doesnt it have one of the highest girl to guy ratios ? Anyway I dont remember much about it.

I highly recommend city living (after the first year anyway). There were five pubs within 50 paces (just as well) of my place in Bristol on St.Michaels Hill. Real pubs too, none of those plastic student bars.

Yeah me either.. all the best young players Ive found so far are ones I grab in part exchange when I sell someone. Watford almost always has some really good young un's.. Now I know there are Watford fans who help with the game it all makes sense.

There is a file called CMscout, available at most CM sites and it offers you the chance to see a players ability and potential without having to rely on luck or "judgement".
The Dugout (http://www.thedugout.net) hosts it, and a lot of other things too, check it out.

and.. no, i am not on their payroll.

Its ok, i have found the file you are refering to.

Go to The Dugout (http://www.thedugout.net/download_centre/CM00/Utilities/more2.html) and find the file GPF2

Its a pretty easy procedure. Read the README though, otherwise it will make no sense!

And yes, I AM on their payroll.

That's the file all right, and by the way I've been spelling the team wrong. It should be Alfreton
