From the BBC:

Spectators were evacuated from Real Madrid's Bernabeu stadium on Sunday following a bomb scare during the game between the hosts and Real Sociedad.

More than 70,000 people abandoned the ground with the score at 1-1 and only two minutes left to play.

The Basque newspaper Gara apparently received a telephone call saying a bomb was due to explode at 2100 local time.

A car bomb exploded in a street outside the stadium and 17 people were slightly injured.

just read that myself. Imagine how scarey that must have been and evacuating. I hope the stewards arn't like ours. They have enough problems escorting a couple of people out of a ground let alone 70,000.

The car bomb which exploded, just to clarify that report, was in 2002, before the Madrid - Barça European Cup semi final. No bomb has been found or exploded today.

Thanks El Ag - I feared the worst before re-reading the report.

Watched it on Sky, people were running for their lives literally. Some looked like they assumed it was a hoax and waited and slowly filtered out!

Shocking how it happened as someone ran onto the pitch to tell the ref who consulted teh 4th official and signalled for every player to leave the pitch.

Watching it i assumed that there was racism and they were trying to prove a point but the truth is even more shocking!

They're going to play the last two minutes plus 4 minutes added-on time sponsored by ETA

.... the night before Epiphany.
Elwiss reckons this was all a betting scam. I like the idea but it doesn't quite seem to fit together..... however it is pretty unheard of for ETA to say there is a bomb, when there isn't (and last night, there wasn't).
