View Full Version : Blackburn, who's going and how?
Me, I driving up to North Yorkshire on the Friday to visit my mother for the weekend. She doesn't know yet that I'm sodding off for the Saturday to watch the footie yet. Last time I managed to visit the old dear was Barnsley away last season.

Have any of your readers spotted the remarkable similarity between Graham Souness, as pictured on the Blackburn ticket above, and Lord Kitchener of WWI recruiting poster fame?
I wonder if by any chance they may be related?

Oh by the way no I'm not going to Blackburn...decided that travelling to the other side of the planet to see a likely defeat was not a good investment.
May be back for Christmas tho...

Just found out that I can get a train direct from York so won't be taking the car. Looks like I'll have time for a beer. Let me know where you'll be SS.

I'm going with 3 mates in the car hopefully
but i still aint received my tickets which
were ordered monday morning. The boy
assured me they would be sent first class
as i live in scotland and be arriving the
latest wednesday. Here's keeping fingers
crossed and i reckon we'll secure a score
draw well got to be optimistic eh or what's
the point in going.
i'll be getting the 7:18 from euston to preston then changing getting me to blackburn for roughly 11:15ish, their is a pub about 15minutes walk from the ground called "The Anchor"(spelling could be wrong sorry)it has 2 pool tables,2 fruit machines, a juke box with eighties music and cheap beer and we were made welcome last season but then there were'nt many palace up there last season so thats probably why they were more friendly towards us

still waiting. Reckon we'll secure a point
got to be optimistic or what's the point

jose - not sure where exactly the anchor is in relation to the ground / station - but the nearest station to the ground is Mill Hill - so that may be nearer for you!

What pub for the meet up?

Don't know whether anyone has any preferences - I didn't get to the ground early enough to sample the pubs last year - but the Fernhurst pub is the nearest to the ground (opposite the away end) and for those people that are driving has a car park as well.

Dai the swansea eagle should be driving up with his missus from Swansea - collecting me from Cardiff roughly 7.30am then onwards. Should have plenty of time for drinking, I can't wait - first game of the season always a highpoint, usually downhill from here though.
May also collect Vinny en-route but not sure.

I'm starting to get a good feeling about tomorrow now... it's gonna be a sunny day (hopefully) - first game back - a game we thought we might never play - massive support (I think all trains out of euston to the north east will have a good few palace fans - certainly the 7.18, 8.18, 9.18 to Preston and at least 40 on the 10.18 to Preston and 25 + on the 9.38 to Manchester!) - and I'll be wearing my lucky shirt.. (previous appearances include Blackburn at home, Tranmere away and 5th July) however it won't be so lucky for anyone sitting near me as superstition prevents me from washing it!!! - however hanging it out the windown and spraying it with that comfort refresh stuff may do the trick!!!
Anyway - 10.18 from Euston for me... Fernhurst pub maybe around 1.30 ish??

As i posted earlier I was going to drive up with the family unfortunatly due to an injury i've had to cancel the trip and will have to rely on teletext to keep me up to date!
Will be arriving in Blackburn about 12.30. Less than 24 hours to go now and counting, it's like being a kid again. There were times last year when I honestly thought we would not be starting the season, this is going to be fun!

I can't think that any other supporters can be looking forward to the start of the season as much as we are.

Prick lorry driver ruined my weekend
We missed the Blackburn game!!!!!!
We had to turn back on the M25 at about 1pm today because a ****ing lorry driver managed to overturn and spill 30 tonnes of olives over 3 lanes.
So I had a great afternoon sitting in a motorway for 2 hours in 80 degrees. It's gotta be the most nightmare away journey ever, especially after looking forward to the first game of the season for so long.
